Talking Kent based PPP fitting...?

Hi all,

Recently picked up my 07 STi D from Lifestyle Subaru in Tunbridge Wells and got a good deal and was generally happy with the service given by the sales staff.

However, I'm fancying getting the ppp done very soon and am a little worried about letting such a large and diverse dealership fit something that I consider to be still a bit "specialist".

I don't want to support Barretts in Canterbury seeing as they've jacked in the sales recently and are just hanging on to the profitable servicing, which is mixed in with Citroen and Rover too.

I do occcassionally go back to Cardiff to visit family, so am considering CVC in Hadfield Road as they seem to have a good reputation.

Can anyone hand on heart recommend a good dealer in Kent for the work or am I going to have to travel further afield..??

Cheers,
Nige.

When I was looking round for my spec d, and having visited a fair number of dealers (including Lifestyle at Tonbridge) I found Waldonway in Ditton near Maidstone to have far and away the most conscientious sales staff. I don't pick up my car til next Saturday so haven't used their service people yet but if they are anywhere near as good as the sales guys then they should be spot on. hth

used waldonway for knocking on 10 years now. never had any major problem with them

the only probs i had were with their paintshop and to be fair the servicing dept. did all they could to help.

not sure what to take from it, but the staff has remained virtually the same for that time so i guess they're doing something right or they'd have been sent on their bikes!

i would say they are as good as any

Ok, seems like Walldonway it is then.

Shame they didn't get my sale really, they were a bit slower than Lifestyle out of the blocks, plus LS had what i wanted arriving the following day after my phonecall.

I've been thinking about joining the SIDC anyway, so that 10% seems like a winner to me. Does it apply to the '07 STi ppp too..?

Oh, and is it correct that you have to have the 1000 mile service with the supplying dealer as they pay for labour or something..?

would assume whoever does it claims the cost back from Suabru UK like the free servicing offer.

would be worth asking the question though

You can take it to any authorised Subaru dealer for the 1000 service.

The labour is covered by Subaru not the dealer!

Got my car from Waldonway and my servicing there too. So far so good.

I've just been thinking how I fancy a Spec D with a PPP.

What bhp you expecting to have when you get that back??

Ads,

Firstly, congrats on the regular bit..!!

Secondly, ppp is alleged to give around either 318ps or bhp (can't remember which!), but it apparently gives a different feel to the car mid range wise. I'm guessing it also gives a fair rise in torque too. For me, it's not in the figures that dynos etc give for quoting down the pub, it's how it feels when I'm sat in it with an open (unrestriced naturally ) road in front of me.

I should think it'll give a fair wallop to it. I've come from an fairly standard '03 WRX to my Spec D and although I'm still capped at 4000rpm, it's a different car entirely..!!

Regards,
Nige.

Here ya go...

316bhp / 332lbft.

However, I'm sure someone will be along very shortly to tell you that the ppp's rarely give the quoted figures....

I thought his name was Tony, top bloke anyway. Just a pity he couldn't get hold of a D spec for me, ended up getting it at Cheam Motors in Surrey.
Where is the Walldonway service centre? I hadn't realised it wasn't at the sales place in Ditton?

Thanks.

I agree it's all in the way it feels. I just wanted to know whether with the PPP it could give pjhsid a run for his money in his RB320.

Had my MY00 Turbo 2000 Wagon for just under a year now, so shall probably be sticking with her for a little while yet.

I got told by prodrive that they are looking at a ppp v.2 for the 2.5 sti.

One with a bit more power.

Cheers for the info re the service dept, saves me turning up in Ditton and looking a bit of a numpty!
Now, pardon me for being a bit of a wus(?sp) but.....
I had 4 test drives before I decided on buying the D spec, an STI and a WRX at different dealers and then back to back tests in both cars (thanks to Waldonway), the WRX is very quick and the STI is almost stupidly quick (and that's why I'm buying it ) but..
Is there REALLY any justification for a PPP on an STI?
or is it the case that as you get more used to the power the more you want?
I'm going from 180bhp n/a to 270 (?) turbo so a substantial step up,
So after all the drivel, I suppose the basic question is, will I be fitting a PPP in 3 months time?

lol, don't think you'll be the first or last to do that luckily the service place is 2 mins down the road!

re: the PPP on an sti, it's just a step up really. you'll get (or think you are) used to the power so want more, natural progresion of a petrol head

some people will be more than happy with std performance, some want a bit more and others go bloody mad! persoanlly i don't see why you'd need more than 350bhp in an everyday normal road car, but it's horses for courses
