My scooby is playing up - 1999 uk 2000 tuned

started steaming from front end every now & again (just whisps) on very cold nights

checked coolant filler & reserve tank - i keep filling but after a run it seems to disappear?

i repeat fill but it just seems to vanish

there is no leaks & car doesnt over heat.

has nyone any ideas please?

Check the rad mate. The core could be rotted away. That should explain the steam.

thats exactly where the rad on my 97 wagon went. The level kept dropping with no apparent leak until the heater started blowing out cold air when the engine was warm.really close exam shows a leak in the bottom right corner where the ends are bonded on, A new rad was £89:00 on Ebay

I had this problem recently too. The level of coolant wasn't dropping, nor was it leaking onto the floor but when I gave it some beans it could squirt coolant out of the side of the rad. A pressure test confirmed that I needed a new one

99% a cracked radiator end tank.
About £95 quid for a new one.
