Default Any flaps problems ?

Been thinking of fitting some flaps, but ages ago I saw a pic on here of someones car that had reversed up a slope, got the flaps stuck under the wheel and made a right mess of the car.

Is this a likely hazard (for someone who's 3 point turn method is to stop when the back wheels hit the kerb ) or a one-off and I should fit em anyway, but use a fixing that's likely to give before it has time to bend metal.

I thought the wheels hitting the kerb when doing a 3 point turn was an instant fail?

I know a mate of mine who had the same problem, ended up needing a whole new front wing!

I have a similar story, who ever had the car before me fitted them to low, when ever i went over a small bump they would rub off the rod and make a horriable noise, then 1 day i decided to reverse into my dads drive where the kerb was only 2/3 inches high and they got stuck between the wheel and kurb and nearly pulled my back end off. I removed them the next day.

No regrets just a little extr mub spray up the doors on wet days

I shall avoid doing it if I ever retake my test

Cheers for the input, not a one off then. Maybe I shall be staying flapless (on the car that is) or attach them with some method that will snap before damage occurs.

Change your 3 point turn into a 5 point turn if needed

I'm ever aware of kerbs with the lip spoiler and flaps, but TBH, i never give it much thought, it's not really a problem.

I went for mini flaps so no risk of kerbing them or scraping which offering at least some protection to the sills and rear bumper . I also prefer the low key subtle looks as well compared with the rally style flaps.

I have recently just fitted some and havent had a problem yet (/me touches wood).

You just have to be aware of them when reversing... and as posted above.. if it needs a 5 point turn then use one.

Iv just fitted some, and can see the problem with them, but I am very careful with the turning side of things.

On previous cars I do admit to hitting the curb with the rear wheels to get the most out of 1 turn.

Flaps protect your car from a lot of stone chips / annoying mud which wont go away aswell as look tremendous. Id say go for them, but just be careful!

I know the STI & Prodrive ones have 2 different height settings. I would set them at the highest setting which would be the lower fixing points.

Hitting the curb slowly is ok m8, driving up a kerb is a numpty thing to do with any car with flaps.
