When I bought my MY99 WRX I was under the impression that 17" wheels were standard on that car. At the time I lived under the assumption they were. Recently as I want to replace my tires I have discovered they are 16's. ????

I know I have no comeback as it was an import, but I just wanted to find out if I was mistaken ... the wheels could have been swapped last year ...

I think all MY99 and onwards cars, except the P1 and UK300 come with 16 inch wheels.

17 Inch wheels look better, and do provide a little more grip, but the tyres are a lot more expensive. I would only change them if you are fed up with the looks, need the grip or add a big brake kit. Otherwise save yourself a 1000 quid and keep them.

 

UK MY01 and on 17" wheels. Prior to MY99 15" wheels I believe. MY99 and MY00 16".

I think the SIDC FAQ or IWOC wil give you the gen.

 

Your car had 16" wheels as standard. Import WRX's had 16" wheels as std from at least MY95 onwards, although not all of them cover 4pots.

RB5 was the only pre01 with 17" as std, the P1 was an option I think.. stand to be corrected as always

UK MY98-MY00 had 16"s, prior to that 15"s. MY01 WRX has 17"s, UK300 has 18"s, P1 has 17"s (though many have 18" upgrade).

Import WRXs have never come with bigger than 16"s as standard up to MY00. In fact Jap spec WRX MY01 (non-STi) has 16"s and no rear wing! But 247bhp...
