decat- remap
just been reading some threads on remapping, saying if it is decatted it could run lean and detonate mine is decatted and wondering if this is true cause i am worried it is going to go bang, won't have the money for a month or so to get it mapped, will it be safe to keep using?thanks in advance

when you put your foot down it does seem to pause all the way up the revs only for a split second but you can feel it
how do you reset the ecu? it has the ppp it wouldn't be affected by resetting it would it?thanks for the reply

sounds like its just slightly holding back now and again due to boost being high, if its only doing it now and again i wouldn't worry.
not sure how the ppp ecu adapts to decats, in theory it should reset back to the ppp map, but then i don't know if its locked like that or if it learns from that point.

A decat and a better exhaust will greatly reduce resistance downstream of the turbo.
One of the things that is likely to do is to change the point at which the turbo spools up and affect how aggressively it boosts.
ECU maps aren't linear, a lot of time and effort is spent making sure the engine behaves properly during spool and boost transitions.
You may well be OK without a remap but in order to realize the full benefit of any changes you make, you should get one.

Last time i emailed kev at the scoobyclinic he said that m99 is fine running a decat or sports cat without a remap. Obviously a remap would give you the full potential from any mods u have.

i found the same tho m8, it kind of hesitates a bit then u feel the straight throughness but i darnt give it any beans until my remap next week!

Thats what I was thinking Harvey!
Basically, upto MY00, you should be fine. If it is a newage age car (MY01+), then you DO need a remap. However, aslong as you drive off boost until the remap, you'll be fine!
