Default low boost/lack of power

I have a 93 import wiv some mods an this morning was runnin fine an goin really well then i pulled away from traffic lights an put my foot down only for it to struggle on full throttle. my wastegatre use to be really loud but now is only loud when drivin slow. I got a bit of black smoke when i did put foot down an car seemed to be holdin back, think i got a mis fire too, my d/valve is still loud tho. I cant find any leaks an the car idles fine an revs fine. Any idea? I did an ecu rest an looked for a fault code but nothink.

mods..
hks manifold an headers
hks downpipe
bailey dumpvalve
FMIC
z4 ecu
s/s groupe n exhaust
hks induction kit

have been told could be plug or coil packs but car runs fine in on low boost. plus plugs dont need to be changed as got irriduim ones fitted last year.

Could be a few things, coil packs do tend to break down at high revs/boost, but you would probably notice a misfire although it wouldnt bring a cel light on. Also actuator could of gone weak, mine did this and basically ran no boost so car had hardly any boost.

is your car tapping at all when cold or at a sustained rev?? could be picking up on the knock sensor and retarding ignition if so

Usually if your actuator is broke the arm on it just rattles around and doesnt hold the wastegate closed therefore it runs very low boost. Do you have a boost gauge fitted. You could try moving the actuator with your hand, if it is moveable then its broke! If you dont have a boost gauge fitted then it is a good idea to fit 1, you can identify boost probs then.

That actuator would be fine for your car if it has a TD05 turbo, but im fairly sure the standard import wrx has a TD04, worth checking.

i do have a boost gauge an has trouble goin past 0.5. normaly it reads 0.9 under max boost. I have been told that the saloon wrx import had a td05 and the wagon had a td04.

went an saw my car at garage today as all done. they have told me my car is now over boosting. They found a couple of air-leaks an cleaned the boost solonoid. Is my boost solonoid broke?

Saloon should have td05.
Is it overboosting after they've cleaned the solenoid and have you driven it after the work to see if there is any over boost?

You could but imo thats just covering up the problem as 0.5 bar is limp home mode.
Have you tried another ecu (w6,u8 abd 2c are 93wrx standards) or another z4(standard)?

i had a z4 an put the the standered ecu back in an didnt change,, the garaged cleaned the boost solonoid an found an air leak an the car overboosts now. 1.5 then i get the fuel cut apart from that car runs fine. it wasnt in limp mode as revved past 4k just didnt boost b4, now its boostin too much.
