Engine Oil, what visc 5w-30?

Default Engine Oil, what visc 5w-30?

02 WRX Turbo needs a drop of oil for top up but dont know which vis to put in? service book is saying 5w-30 0r 10-40 which is useful (not).
what do you use?

I use 15w50, dont use the 5w30, the 30 rating is for extreme temps only, not for normal use, your best off with the 10w40 or whatever the dealer put in at the last service.

5W is way too thin isnt it?

5w40 is fine for normal use. Thats what most dealers use.

Id misread it as a MY'00, but 5W is still thin. Id suggest a good quality 10-40.

10-40 is the way to go ............. avoid the ***** using 15W-50 - it's TREACLE!! and quite shocking that be put in a high performance car!

well pete, wrong again, STi use Motul 300v 15w50 and 5w40 under their own name and sell it as a recommended oil, so no its not too thick for use in a performance car.
