Default Oh Dear Lord @ Evo 8 Undercover Cars

Never seen anything like it, was driving across the A38 towards ripley in derbyshire, and on the otherside of the road comes hurtling down was nothing but 3 evo 8 undercover police cars.

Could not beleive it, had no blue lights at all apart from at the front in the grill, and the rear spoiler where the brake light usualy is, it was flashing side to side with blue lights again. Oh and the indicators or spotlights or something, but there were 3 of them, in a row, must of been going 100+

just give me that job whatever they are doing, couldnt beleive my eyes, evo 8 undercover police car! Thats something that people would try and race, ah well. Not the worst job in the world!

Makes sense really though, you need a quick car to catch a quick car. Quite a few Impreza's around here.

So why an Evo then? surely any old oil burner would do? Having had a couple of scoobs myself I know for a fact my astra would keep up quite easily...

similar story up my way on the settle/long preston roads, they've had scoobies and escort cossies as police cars for quite a few years now, I heard rumour of a focus RS too but I've not seen it myself

Dunno? Possibly to try and bond/get the respect of some of the boy racers? To try and stop people trying to race off when their lights flash as if to say 'my car's faster than yours so don't bother trying'? I can't see it being for entrapment.

It would be interesting to read a feature on these cars though to see what they have done to them.

Did anyone see *cough* 5th Gear *cough* a few months back when they looked at a few police cars and said they stay away from white ones because of a larger re-sale value? I wouldn't mind one of the Evo's when they get rid I magine even though they get well used they'll also be well looked after.

The North Wales police in the Deeside/Queensferry area have a Focus RS and looks smart with all the police decals on it.

There was a feature on one, Lincolnshire Police I think, had one in black. It was in Japanese Performance magazine a few months back.

It started as a FQ320 but was wearing a FQ400 badge...think someone had been tinkering in the Police garage before it was used on patrol

Having something like that as a patrol car would have the opposite effect in my opinion. Lets face it, there isn't much that can escape an EVO, not on the normal roads anyway.
