Question

Anyone out there got any contacts that can supply and fit a Tracker? Looking for some discount.

I got a discount (from the normal rate) by ringing Tracker themselves and asking for a better rate. This was a couple of years ago (Sept 1998) but I don't see why it won't still apply.

That was for the usual Tracker brand with guard and recover options. Don't know about other manufacturers of trackers.

I got a newsletter from Tracker last week. They are now offering a 'dual' system that incorporates the original Tracker radio based system and a new Satellite tracking system in the same car. They said that they think the radio system is still the best but are including the satellite system as some insurance companies are now insisting on this to get discounts on premiums. This new system is called Tracker Horizon.

Details on the Tracker website

Sean

And there I was thinking that I didn't have to spend any more money on Tracker as I had gone for their one of payment for the life of the car.

Not sure about this Tracker Horizon - do you know how much it costs to upgrade from a normal Tracker membership to that?

AWD,

They didn't mention cost in the leaflet I got. It probably quotes prices on the website. I think the satellite option is only available with the original Tracker monitor NOT with the one where you have to inform them of the theft.

I have the 24 hour monitor option. The website has prices for each of the 3 systems installed from new but nothing for upgrades. Guess I'll have to ring them to find out. I'm not sure about whether I'll go for the Horizon upgrade - depends on the cost involved and the benefits which I am still thinking about.

How about you? Are you tempted by the new system?

I was thinking about it, however up till now been too lazy to find out how much it would cost to upgrade, so if you find out let us know, likewise if I ever muster the energy to lift the phone I will post the cost.

Seems like an excellent idea, integrating GPS with the Tracker.

The possibility of not having a Tracker enabled Police car in the right area always worried me about Tracker and has left me undecided between that and something like eGuard.

Downside is, of course, the cost:

Tracker Monitor: £299 + £135 install + £99/year
Tracker Horizon: £599 + £149 install + £99/year

Hmmm, decisions, decisions.....

Spoke to Tracker. There is no upgrade option to Horizon. Totally different unit.

**** - I don't suppose they told you whether they have an upgrade offer to getthe Horizon fr less than £599? Not that I expect them to bother supporting their current costomers when they can try to make them shell out for a whole new system.

Grr....

They did insinuate there would be a small discount for existing customers getting new units. But I doubt it would be much.
