What do you think of the Bridgestone RE010's?

...good to get a predictable drift from but IMHO they overheat too quickly....and they need to be past legal to have as good a grip as, say TOYO T1-S's. Why are you thinking about RE010's when there are good deals to be had on rubber like F1's etc etc. Dunno if Mark @ Tyres Northampton still has loads of F1's in - it might be worth a shout.

 

They're great if you like little grip in the wet and awful tramlining, plus the fun of never knowing when they'll break away.

Loathesome tyres in my experience.

 

Re010's where std equipment on my MY99.
IMHO
They lasted me 17K miles, not bad grip in the dry OK in the wet, they are just average, there are much better tyres out there. They did tramline alot towards the end of their lives.

I changed to Goodyear F1's which i much prefer, much higher levels of grip in the wet & dry. a lot of other people seem to like the Bridgestone S02/03s and Toyos.

Do not know of many people who stayed with the 010's. I think there are better tyres out there.

BTW - I believe 16" F1's are around £ 80.00 incl. VAT and fitting, Toyos slightly less S03's slightly more so be careful what you pay.
I would not go back to them from F1's, even if they where for free

010's are standard equip on my 01 WRX Wagon. Currently up to 8k miles, and have swapped front to rear to get even wear, and replace them all at once.

Even on the relatively unworn couple (5-6mm left) the tramlining on poor road surfaces is very noticable.

Looking forward to trying out F1's. Just hope they don't need replacing in March when my insurance is due for renewal. Ouch!

nah...forget the RE010's!!....for an extra £15 per tyre I got S03's...no comparison!...

Not one of the replies rated the 010's, several other tyre choices where suggested and POC still went with the 010's.

I am not trying to cause a problem POC, did you not get offerd any other types/makes.

POC i really hope you got a binding deal on them.

The good outweighed the bad at the end of the day.... we shall see if I have mad the wrong decision.

POC, dont do it... Ive used up two sets of these (one with the car) one with the P1 gold wheel deal from 18 months back.

The tyres are ok. nothing better than that. And as they get old (circa 9-10k miles) they start to tramline and this just gets worse and worse. I am about to swap mine to S03s which costs only a little more for a much better tyre.

I really do suggest you pay the extra...

POC - Nooooooo don't get the RE010s.

They are so average and they tramline soooooooo badly when they are a little worn. I've driven scoobs with RE010s, SO2s and Toyos. I prefer the Toyos with the S02s a close second. The RE010s don't come anywhere close, they're not in the same league. A waste of your good money IMHO.

POC, heres my conundrum...

One my gold wheels I did 8k miles before getting a huge nail in one of the RE010s in a non fixable place (not that I would have). Easy, I just fitted my original silver set and off I went but I still have these 3 part worn RE010s and Im stingy... but, big but... I wont buy another REO10 to replace the nail'd one as they are so crap so I had to fight with my concience and ditch 3 decent treaded tyres... hard to do normally but being RE010s I didnt complain too much...

On the other hand - seeing your other thread about buying Avon ZZ1s and getting a refund etc...

You will find the 010's a big step up from the awful ZZ1 tyres, better grip, handling, progressive drift bla bla bla.....

I'd still get F1's, Toyo's, SO3's, SO2(If you can find em) if you can.

 

I had another quick look at this thread and decided that maybe the 010's were not the way forward, subsequently I have contacted the garage and changed them to a new set of spanking SO3's.....

Scoobynet does impress me sometimes

Paul glad you changed you mind I didnt realize how average the 010's were until I ran p-zeros (17's) and then moved onto T1-S (18's) which IMHO are superb and great value for money. Never tried S03's, not as good in out and out grip as S02's by all accounts but you will probably get a better mileage out of them.

I hold the opinions of everyone on scoobynet with the highest regard (yes, even yours Paul Habgood!).... It is all good and well talking to a tyre dealer, however, you cannot get any better information than that of first-hand experience.....

In short I would take the collective opinions of scoobynet above any other....
