16% average going up to 40% higher for the boy racer type

Thats a heck of a price hike !!!

The main blame they gave was due to lawyers getting 40p of every £1 payout due to all the personal injury claims made

To think their phrase was "Quote me happy", they need to change it to "Quote me to pi$$ me off"

At what age do they class you as a boy racer?!

Am I a boy racer at 21?

Was I a boy racer at 17?

In both I think not, I drove a fiesta and a fabia, how many boy racers drive a fabia?

and what is a boy racer?
Is it a young man with a cap permanently pointing up at 45 degrees in a corsa?
Most of the lads I know have 1.0 cars that have body kits on, they don't race (cos they can't)

What exactly defines a boy racer?

I've been at traffic lights and girls have been more eager to race than lads!
I mean 30-40years old! Come on, bump up the old biddies prices as most of them can't drive for ****!
Fair enough if you have just past your test and driving anything over 1.4
or you've got points. But its stupid, is a geek a boy racer? Stupid insurence companys.

Whether they increase their prices by 16%, 2% or 250% means absolutely NOTHING - unless, you are the one facing a hike .............. but then you move company don't you??

No need to get wound up - just act accordingly!

Direct Line used to 'Cherry Pick' and I must admit I would too!

Imagine you are the one Insuring cars for a living, would YOU insure a 25 year old in an Impreza??

NO you would NOT!!

Would you Insure a car owned and driven by someone who had modified it and therefore had the brains of a mouse?

NO you would NOT!!

Would you insure someone with speeding convictions and a basball cap?

NO you would NOT!!

So why should they??

Pete

As above there is becoming a very big problem with personal injury claims.

The old classic of someone being fine after an accident, then going down the pub and chat to their mates, then a stiff neck appears and they get £3000 personal injury.

Also i am led to believe there are certain groups of people who go out and have accidents of purpose, just to claim injury money.

One other thing.....

Norwich union are the biggest company who insure people in EU licences and have only just moved into the country.

Put 2 and 2 together........

4 people in a car, driver hits a tree, 3 passengers all claim personal injury, then split the money between the 4 of them.

Nice little earner.

Problem is they are a market leader, so the rest will just follow suit.

This was proven in Coventry last year, there were groups of "individuals" who were doing this ALOT.
They were caught eventually and dealt with acordingly made quite alot of money before hand though.

NU doubled my house & contents premium this year. I've never claimed off them so I called to ask why so expensive. Was told that they had re-rated different types of houses.
Suffice to say I'm now paying the same amount as last year with a different company.
