How to get Sky+ cheap if you are an existing Sky Multiroom customer
We've had Sky multiroom for years and for ages I have wanted to upgrade to Sky+, but the cost has always put me off. If you are an existing Sky customer (without Multiroom), you could upgrade to Sky+ with Multiroom for £89, but if you were existing Sky Multiroom customer, you had to pay £199 to upgrade to Sky+.
Despite numerous conversations with Sky, they would not agree to let me have for £89 in recognition of the years I have had multiroom.
Suddenly a way around it dawned on me, I arranged to have Sky+ with multiroom on the internet for £89, and then they day before the installation I cancelled my existing multiroom subscription over the phone. As it was not my main subscription it was cancelled immediately.
The quote from the person at Sky when I cancelled was - "whilst we don't want to advertise that you can do this, there is nothing we can do to stop you".
So there you go, a way of saving yourself £100 plus on the deal.
Only a couple of things to watch, you need to have had your existing multiroom subscription for 12 months or more (to allow you to cancel) and you are then tied into a fresh 12 month contract from Sky+ Multiroom.
I've just tried looking on the Sky website to see if the prices are still the same, but cannot find anything about upgrading for existing customers - just keeps going round in circles, so it may be that they've spotted the loophole, but don't see how it will help them. I went through my contract paperwork a number of times before doing it, and there is nothing in any of the small print which states that you can't do it.
Just thought I'd share this.

Freedom from paying money to watch **** at last!

SKY kind of reminds me of tobacco companies, selling a product nobody needs at premium prices to stupid addicted morons who ultimately are doing nothing but damaging themselves.

Hell, Sky didn't even bother to check that the person we referred cancelled their contract immediatley!

IIRC, we even told Sky and the girl said it was dealt with by different depts and not to worry.

edited to add: it only has to be 3 months for the referral, so no great shakes anyway

Follow me around if you must, I can't say I'm surprised that you have nothing better to do. The only problem is that you'll have to keep out of the Muppets Forum, where you belong
BTW fool, where did I say I had Sky?
This will be my last comment on this thread, hopefully it can get back on track.
