Default prodrive gearset, good enough?

I have been offered to have my (5 speed normal wrx) gearbox rebuilt with a prodrive gearset. Is that a strong gearset?
I guess it is the same as the normal 5speed sti gearset?

My real question is this: I have a 2001 wrx with 280 lb ft of torque coming in very early using a hybrid td04. And I want to be driving really fast on stagedrives, doing semi-hard launches (slipping clutch half-quick from 4500rpm) from a stand-still. Would the prodrive gearset be good enough for my car, or should I just double the money and get a 6 speeder?

(Would like to get ppg semhelical or a six-speed gearbox, but I have already spent far to much money on this car).

The gearbox-man talks about it like it is the normal japanese sti gearset. He wants to install it into a gearbox from a 99 sti. So I don't know, it is probably just syncro, helical 5 speed sti-gears produced by prodrive?

if its a normal sti gearset, and he wants to install it in an sti casing, do you not think the gearset in the sti casing is sti anyway, and that possibly he's trying to pull your undercrackers down somewhat?
Cos we all do

Well the sti-gearset in the sti-casing is broken, so he has to repair/rebuild it with the "prodrive"-gearset. He has got a few broken wrx boxes and this sti box laying around. The problem is that I really don't know if it is worth paying extra money for it. It should be stronger than the original wrx-gears I have, but I don't know much stronger though..

they used to do an S2 kit for the grpN cars at one point, before the days of legalised 'dog boxes', can only assume that this is what your being offered??

why not ask the "expert" exactly what your getting, how old and how much??
