expensive job or ?
OPERATION WATER LEAK
Hi yall .......bit of trouble with my water system, at the back of the engine underneath the intercooler on the right hand side theres metal water pipes that run up then across underneath the inlet manifold then down behind the cam cover and i presume to the water pump, theres two pinhead holes in two of the pipes (common?) and there doesnt seem to be a break in the metal work so i presume lots of bits and bobs have to come off....is this gonna be expensive or is there some magic bonding type liquid metal thingy magig to fix her.
Thanks
Bob

not common as far as I am aware.
The pipe to get out that goes behind the cam cover is a pain.. it is easier with cambelt, cam wheels, cam covers all off etc.. you might be able to get to the bolts but will be a pain to undo and get the bliters out.. and the inlet manifold would have to come off I think along with air con pump if fitted doing it that route rather than removing cam covers etc..
Where are the holes.. can they not be welded in place somehow?
Simon

Hi jolly, One of the holes is on top so would be ok to weld....the other is underneath the pipe but whats the metal ....what about getting that liquid metal stuff and maybe for extra strengh put some gasket sealer around the fix aswell. One of the holes is in a pipe at the back of the engine right next to where it goes into the block (one bolt with pozi fitting) so thats easy to replace but the other is on a one piece pipe that travels under the inlet and down behind the cam cover to the water pump.
Thanks

Well tried to fix it and it held for a bit, bloody things gone again! wanted to fit my new header tank today and put new coolant in it... no point now as its blown again. could i cut the pipe and fit some rubber tube with clips ??? i think its just possible to do this, the stuff i used was loctite leak-fix plastic padding.. fixes petrol tanks radiators water tanks etc. Im getting really pissed off with this now, got to take off intercooler etc again!!!
Anyone want to replace the pipes?????
