Default Funny clicking noise?

Have been noticing an annoying clicking noise coming from rear of passenger compartment in my MY05 WRX I think it might be the ball bearings in the rear seatbelts but can't pin it down as it doesn't seem to do it all the time anyone got any ideas?

Is it more of a knocking noise than a click ? Is it a wagon or saloon ? If a saloon check out threads about rear suspension knock (common problem) http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=507161. If it's a wagon I had a similar problem on my 03 WRX , turned out to be the roof lining ( I didn't believe the dealer ) but they fixed it . http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=517631

Its a saloon and I'm pretty sure its not suspension noise as it definately sounds as though its in the passenger seat area somewher I did wonder if it was something to do with the plastic panels where the rear seatbelts come through that might indicate a problem where it meets the roof lining I wonder if its a temperature issue as it seems more noticeable when I first start driving sometimes.

If it's a bit of a squeeky rattle then it'll be the shocks. Mine sounds like it's coming from the seats too, but I had it checked and it's the shocks. Known issue etc. Should be going in to get fixed soon.

I've had exactly the same problem with mine since new m8 and still looking

Perhaps I should let the dealer sort it under warranty, but so far, I've had the back seat out and it's not there. I've had the plastic out around the rear seat belt....it's not there. It's not the plastic hanger over the rear door. The last thing I tried was cutting the plastic lugs off the rear window....nope.

I (think) I've narrowed mine down to something in the parcel shelf, or the roof lining, or the rear window could be fitted poorly

For now, I've given up

/edit I thought the shocks was only an STI issue?

Been lurking here for some time so I thought I should join.

I had this problem with my new Spec D. Turned out to be the 3 pegs in the rear window. Dealer fixed it under warranty. No further problems.

As previous people have said there is a bulletin available to dealers from the Subaru technichal web site. Just booked the car in and left it to them.
