Towbar on a P1

Whilst I would never wish to tow anything with my P1, I am facinated as to why great lengths are taken to tell you not to do it.
Probably the schoolboy in me, but they are so emphatic that I almost want to do it.
Any comments Mike?

No, not especially.
Although, like everyone, I think it looks better in the flesh, I'm afraid I just can't like it. The design seems to lack a little cohesion. But without the flared arches, the 5 dr looks far better. Only a personal view I know, but it did seem to be echoed by a great many others, including dealers.
I think Prodrive will clean up on after-market bits.

I can't see why you shouldn't do it, as the chassis is basically the same as other Imprezas, and they do tow rather well. I'd gladly tow with something else if someone would like to buy one for me, but as thats unlikely I'll stick to my only viable car (the 924 barely pulls the skin off a rice pudding and the mini

As those on the 'Ring trip will verify speeds of 100 mph are easily achieved when towing a Westie, and comfortable cruising speeds of 90mph are the norm, at least if I'm driving. Drops the 0-60 right down though, best I can manage is 9 secs
Ring around for quotes though as the prices vary considerably, for the same bar, I was quoted from £150-£400 for a Witter bar, endede up paying £200 as apparantly the fitment is slightly different on imports and requres some adjustment of the bar.

At Croft the other week I saw a 5-door Scooby towing a trailer with a racing Capri (I know, racing and Capri just does not fit). Common sense dictates this should have been the other way round. A towbar on any Subaru, other than a Forester, does not bear thinking about.
