Default Need help with CEL explanation

Right 3 weeks ago i fitted a center de-cat pipe with a universal Lambda sensor, after 2 weeks of driving the CEL comes on, i take it to the main stealers and after charging me £40 they tell me it the universal lambda sensor that is poorly fiited,ie bad conections on the wires.
So i get the lambda re-wired by the same people who fitted it and the CEL turned off at the stealers again.
Tonight the light comes back on yet again, now im more than happy to think its the Lambda sensor at the moment, after a phone call to a reputable company,im told i have the wrong type of sensor even though its has the same wires and the same number of wires to it,it's still wrong.

The question is,if i put an original sensor back in will my light come back on ?Because it see's no cat,
or
IS it a simple case of wrong Lambda sensor..

NEED HELP REAL QUICK ON THIS ONE

thanks guys

what year?

if it is a classic the lack of cat won't put the CEL on..

although if it is an early car around a 93 with a cat over heat light it might be that sensor which is playing up..
