Default Car died then ok?

On a reasonably long drive 2nite the car jus died? No warning etc, jus cut out and that was it. Pulled over and tried it agian, nothing and again. Then after a min or so tried again. started and fine since? Could a faulty battery cause this?
Any one had similar? Will run the Diagnostic tomoro as is 2 dark now.
UK turbo MY00.

My initial thoughts would be a new battery (as you say it's chirping), but I'm by no means an expert! I have yet to reach idiot status yet!!

Best of luck sorting it though

Something to do with fuel ie a blockage somewhere maybe, I had exactly the same thing happen to me in a car once and it was the fuel filter. If not then it is likely to be electric, try spraying wd40 over any corroded contacts in the engine bay, then see if it happens again.

A battery problem will not cause the engine to cut out whilst running, A chargeing fault would but then you would have had a flat battery when it cut out. Sounds like a sensor is intermittently failing. Prob crank sensor as this is about the only sensor that the engine management cannot manage without.
