Question m.o.t time

hello all.

ive booked my 95 wrx import in for the mot.

its the first time ive took this car for an mot.

with my other cars ive just took them in and hoped they passed. but with this one should i be doing any pre mot checks??? if so what do you check for. its also got a decat centre section. and after reading some threads on here that should be ok to. (i hope).

so what checks do you do before you take it.

thanks gaz.

Hi Bud, I am lucky to have a MOT station, ive used for years and years, and they are very thoughtful with my performance mods LOL.

If they dont know you you may be unlucky with your decat, of course you still have one cat installed though and this may be ok, you will just have to see.

Basic checks you can do yourself are tyre tread depth, brake pads ok ? all lights working ok ?

No exhaust blowing anywhere, no brake fluid leaks ?

the rest you will have to leave to them if your not sure with mechanical stuff.

Hopefully she is pretty sound bodily being an import and fingers crossed it will pass for you.

i fitted 4 new p6000's two weeks ago. its got new front discs and pads and rear pads to. every thing seem nice and tight and nothing is loose?

but HOSKIB has got me s%^ting myself now.

is there a chance that it may not pass emissions with a decat? its still got the front ones on. or is that front one?

I have a 1995 WRX and 1 cat is enough.
I fit a centre cat specially for the MOT and the testers say emmissions are some of the best they see.

a stupid question then.

have i got to fit my original system back on before i take it for the test?

when i bought the system from roadrunner in notts i was told it would still pass the emissions. the system i bought is a magnex decat centre and rear box.
thanks gaz.

oops, sorry mate. didn't mean you would have probs i can't see you struggling with one cat in place, just go for a good run before it goes to be tested to clean it thru and get it nice and hot.

mine passes with one cat (when i can be arsed to put it on that is)

If they say their system will pas MOT then try it, if it fails you can then put original system on for a re-test.

For the sake of 10 mins I change my middle and rear sections, all depends on whether the system you got from roadrunner has a 2.5" front to middle joint as to whether original parts will mate. Changing full system is a right pain.

Just re-read your post, you have only changed to middle and rear sections? In that case the original front pipe should be in place, they have 1 cat fitted, so should pass MOT with no problems.

A 95 Jap import WRX should have 1 cat in the front downpipe and thats enough to pass MOT. Middle section will have a resonator box (or at least mine has).

the front cat is still in place and i assume its the one with the lamner sencer going to it. ive not removed this front section so fingers crossed it should pass.

They come with only 1 cat, UK turbo's had 2 cats for euro emissions.
