Hi im going to change the oil and filter on my 1997 classic turbo what oil do you recommend and is they anything to look out for when changeing it approx how much oil dose it take thanks for you help

 

It's pretty straightforward really. If you've done it with other cars then it shouldn't be a problem, just don't spill half the old oil on the driveway like I did last time
It should take about 4.5 litres, don't forget to pre-fill the filter.

 

I have done thise twice.... pissing oil everywhere... for some reason my oil collecter just can't cope with the speed it comes out the sump. Our drive is not ****! lol

 

Make sure you follow the correct procedure as there is a risk that if incorrectly done, you can cause premature engine failure. Take note of the number of big end failures on here that have been reported within a few miles of an oil change.

Think the procedure has been listed on here before, try a search. Failing that if you PM me and have access to a fax, then I can copy you the advice as given by API, one of the most respected engine builders (or should that be rebuilders) in the UK.

Alternatively speak to API and I am sure they will email you the details as they are always extremely helpful.

Special mention for Nathan for showing me round last Saturday and don't forget to hide that Air con compressor for me.

Just change the oil as you would any other car. There is no need to follow any special procedure. What you use is personal choice. Check your handbook for the definative answer as oposed to opinion.

 

The hand-book states the 'minimum' grade! Go fully synthetic for better protection and longevity. I use mobil 1 15w50.

 

wht bout semi senthetic 10w40 is tht any gud?
