Sorry if this has be asked before!

I have been running my P1 on Tescos 97 fuel and that’s fine but it’s about 15 miles away and a round trip to fill up with fuel gets expensive.

My local garage only sells 95 fuels. What affects would it have if I used the 95 fuels and also what about octane booster?

Thanks for your help.

Be very careful with fuel on a p1. Several mappers have been on here saying that - in effect- the p1 is an Sti5, not just in terms of its hardware, but also in its ECU map. Apparently, it's just about ok on 98RON, anything lower is very dicey, especially if you modify it etc.... I guess 95RON and appropriate quantities of a Octane booster would be ok, but wouldn't it just be better to get it remapped for UK fuel? I wouldn't even think about running it on 95 by itself!!!!

Best,

Ns04

I wouldn't put 95 ron in your P1! Its worth the extra bit of money getting super unleaded to save getting a big bill for a rebuild.

Get yourself over to www.p1woc.co.uk You'll get plenty of good advice there

A rebuild will cost £2000 exc. VAT as an absolute minimum; how many 17 mile trips will you need to avoid in order to get ahead? P1's can barely run on any pump fuel available here, let alone 95RON; when they were specified it wasnt possible to alter the igniton and other variables in the ECU so its essentially STI5..... If youre sensible you will buy a new mass airflow meter and start saving up for an ECU-Tek remap; anything else is foolish false economy.

As an aside; P1s were type-approved as a 'supercar' (you get a little lattitude if your in-gear times are impressive enough); it would be a mistake to expect to buy a car such as this an then scrimp and scrape to save money. If you wont spend the money to drive to a supplier selling adequate fuel then you simply cant afford the car; sell it before you ruin it and lose thousands.

A Remap is the only safe way for 95Ron on a P1

If I had one I'd probably have a remap anyway regardless of fuel type - with the habit they have of going pop when that broquet thingy stops working.

Being a UK car i thought it would be mapped for UK fuel

I dont mind the trip for fuel and its not the price of the fuel that bothers me its the 45 min round trip and im using about £10 every time i do it.

As you have said though its a small price to pay to keep it running sweet.

Yes and no, IIRC the fuel/ign map is the same as the JDM STi V5, just they use a fuel catalyst to compensate.

Glad you've logged onto P1woc, this site can be a little anti P1 by some miss informed members

For decent info on your car, check there. The guys know and love the car.
