It depends if your car has been mapped to run on Optimax? If it is standard and not mapped to a specific octane fuel (or an import), BP SUL will be fine - although it may not run as smoothly for a couple of tanks and TBH, you may find it less responsive.

Other than that, you should be fine.

I don't have any experience of it personally, but I know of two prominent mappers on here who don't rate ultimate at all. Many also report increased KL activity on BP ultimate compared to Shell or Esso 99 Ron, for example. Evo magazine also stated that Subaru's seem to prefer Optimax to ultimate, although they did not assert what they based that on.

I wouldn't use it.

According to the car mags this month, the best petrol around at the moment is Tesco 99. Its higher RON than optimax (98.7) RON and apparently its a bit of a trade secret amongst performance car enthusiasts.

Personally (and I've done alot of research into this), Optimax is one of the worst fuels for economy and with no performance benefits. However Esso is good and so is Texaco Super.
