Default Stone chips

Can anyone tell me how you can protect your car from stone chips .
My WRX 55plate has a chip which needs attention .
My car was coated with GuardX but this did not stop the chip .

Thanks

Sorry, don't mean to laugh!!!

I wish I only had "a" stone chip. Unfortunately unless you have a protective plastic cover stuck to the front of your bonnet, you'll have a LOT more stone chips soon.

Scoobs are renowned for stone chips and there's not much you can do about it. Most people accept it, live with it and then get a front end respray when it gets too much!!!

I wrap my car in cotton wool pads and keep it inside a vacuum sealed garage so nothing can harm it

Take it to a body shop if you are that worried, just get ready to fork out a wedge.

Take a look at a thread I started on the same subject.

When I went to my local Subaru dealer they couldn't supply touch up paint - they said they'd never heard of Cashmere yellow before!!!!

I don't get that many! Are you driving too close to the car in front?

Did you get it from a gritter? They throw up some quite large chunks, so it's worth slowing down and giving them a wide berth when passing them, especially on the motorway.

I got a dent in the roof in my 55WRX when only 4 weeks old from lump of drainstone being flung from the other carriageway.

I hit the roof just on the window seal.

Took it to a body shop and they asked how much of a perfectionist are you, said to fix it would mean windscreen out and about 8 hours labour.

So I went to my friendly Subaru specialist, gave him the chassis number and bought a touch up stick and a bottle of rust preventer and did it myself for a tenner.

Not perfect but I am sure there is more to come

^ we haven't been lucky have we m8.

i've had a new windscreen after getting a 10cm crack in it. now i find this stone chip, with reust coloured stuff on it - it can't be rusting already can it? on a 55 plate about 2 weeks after the windscreen damage?

i'm taking it into subaru on saturday but they are talking about a panel respray. how much will that cost on a WRX Wagon - its the front strut, joined to the roof plus all the way to the back of the car, what ever thats called.

Best thing to keep stone chips to a minimum, in my experience, is a product called Armourfend. Do a search on google.

Mudflaps are a good start! They keep the crap away from the sides of your car at least!
