Default Contract Hire

I'm thinking of getting a brand new WRX.

Is contract hire a good option?

Subaru are currently quoting £299 a month for an MY05 WRX

Anyone else out used contract hire?

i was thinking about it. i think you need to put down 30%, then at the end you pay another balloon payment, or give the car back, but obvioucly don't have the hassle of trying to sell it at the end. (although it will cost more in the end i'd expect)

i think if you go contract hire you have the option of a maintenace contract including consumables - so you can drive it like you stole it, without worrying about tyres, brakes or knacking the engine .

the bad bit is if you give it back and there are scratches, they charge you hundreds. we have company cars and have on ocasion been charged £1500 for citroens only worth £15000 new which had a few scratches or excess miles on 'em.

The deal quoted on the Subaru website is £850 up front, then £299 per month for 3 years, then either hand the car back, or start another contract on a new car.

Sound good to me

contract normally is 3 payments upfront followed by 11,23 or 35 payments depending on 1 year 2, or three years.

best deal i have seen on WRX on is 279 but thats plus VAT as are all contract hire.

The best deal at the minute on all motors is Focus ST1 in 5 door with met paint for 199 a month on a two year deal. Think Im getting one for the wife for that, to replace the Megane Cab I had on a One Year Deal at 151 a month

I assume that is plus VAT? though it should be possible to get one for a £299 without vat under a PCP scheme (certainly can if you get a EU import)

Rubbish. provided its standard when it goes back, and you've not invalidated the warranty, then they'll never know.

I've contract hired my last three scoobs on 2yr contracts at £299 a month. They work to VBRLA fair wear and tear guidelines, if there's anything really ropey get it smart repaired before it goes back.

I sent a MY01 back with virtually no pint left on the boot lid as I'd had an STi6 spoiler on it!!!
