Errrrr - all this from someone who supposedly "pulled away from a confused Turbo Driver on a B road" - hmmm - a certain word springs to mind.

Go away you muppet.

I'm confused - Imprezas don't handle ?

1. Why has it won several World Rally Championships ?
2. If you look back through car magazines over the last five years they have at some time or another put Imprezas up against all sorts, Caterhams, 911s etc. It has always handled the best, wet or dry. I don't recall any of them putting it up against a Cavalier though, maybe an oversight

I've had a Cav - it was good on a motorway but B roads ? Forget it. It's actually quite a long narrow car which doesn't really make for going around corners well..
Had a couple of Pug Gtis since. 205 then 306 Gti. Both light years ahead, as you would expect.
Std Impreza can sustain a much higher average speed over North Yorks B roads than my 306 Gti6.

Maybe the Impreza encountered was being run in, or driven by my ex-girlfriend ?

Odd

Question

Most of you have written asking me show them my Car on a track. I have offered to do this, but suddenly you've all decided that it's not worth it.

I'm not driving hundreds of miles, but will go to a local track. Do I have any takers?

Cool

I cant help laughing at your posts.I can just imagine the distance a bog standard Impreza would pull out against your Cavalier by the time you got to the first corner. Please just go away and leave us alone.

Well of course it would, Impreza's are very fast. I've driven one and it felt double the performance on my SRi.

This is why comparing my car to a Impreza Sport is better.

But what i'm saying, turbo or non-turbo, is that they don't handle. This is the issue i've been making from the start.

No you said point to point nothing was faster than your lovely Cavalier. Now you only want to race against an RX sport.Which incidently would still beat you.

Jason,

we have a track session booked this Friday at Knockhill, which isn't too far from you. We will have lots of interesting cars taking part, and you would be more than welcome to evaluate Impreza handling from the passenger seat. There are a few places left on the event, and you could even run your own car, if you feel it is up to the task.

We even have quite a few Lotus Elises taking part, which are highly regarded handling wise, adn you'll be surprised how closely matched the cars are in terms of performance, both around the corners, and along the straights!

NOOOOO his Cavalier will show up all the Scoobies AND the Elises ... then what will the press say??? Cavalier prices take off and Scooby prices now on the floor.

We shall then see the true value of cavaliers on the market ... imagine it? an SRi, say 1995?, for £300!!! twice what we know they are worth!! and a similar Scooby may drop to, what? say £13,000????

seems fair

Pete

Jake,

I used to post on the Cavalier Net page. But bailed out before it descended into Muppetdom.

Out of intrigue I looked in a while back - shudder. Ooh it was terrible, muppets every where. It was quite un-nerving.

Just been reading the thread on his home site and he got thoroughly flamed and shot down there.

Oh well, I hope his bro sorts his car out.

Had a 16v SRi with a Courteney Bilstein kit on it - it was pretty good on fast A roads - B roads was crap. Wet was crap.
