My son uses a tailored cover on the STi - I'll get details tonight and post them up.

I used to have one on my old M3 as it was worth protecting, I had a Covercraft breathable outdoor tailer made cover, expensive but when it freezes you do feel it is protecting the paint. The only downside is the car has to be clean otherwise you will find you start getting light/small scratches everyhwere.

Not cheap mind. I was looking at them at Japfest where they were "discounted" to ONLY £200 for an indoor one.

http://www.stiracing.com/list.php?id=4 do a reasonable one for about £80 - designed to fit the new-age cars, but will fit a classic (fits even better if you modify it with a bungee cord to pull the corners tight!

 

I've got a Covercraft cover on my STi wagon, it is an outdoor one (called the Noah) that was made to measure, I am very pleased with it,it was expensive but it was worth the money.

As Chippy said the car must be washed before you put it on.

 

Has to washed before you put it on, what's the point in that !!

So if you go out, the car gets a bit dirty, it's the middle of the night
and you have to wash the fooking car before you put it on, sounds
like alot of hassle to me.

I got a universal breathable one from ebay about 12 months back comes with its own storage bag cost about £25 delivered IIRC. It has been fine so far, it repels light rain anything heavier goes through but with it been breathable it soon dries out along with the car once the rain stops. Its not the best fit as I have a mid level rear spoiler but I use 3 webbing straps with clips one on the front, middle & back and 4 small spring clamps to secure it to the front bumper - its never budged yet in the wind! As above its a pain but the car has to be washed before the cover can go on, not so much of a prob for me as its a weekend car but on a daily runner I wouldnt bother with the cover.

 

I bought 2 x king size cotton sheets from Dunelm Fabric Warehouse for £5.95 - very pleased with them, but, car is kept in my super garage/gym room.

Sheets are easy to wash, but cannot get the wife to iron for me

 

just bought an RAC approved one from argos at a reduced price for 19 quid. Very nice, although doesnt fully fit the wagon.

Yeah it’s only a weekend car... its annoying me trying to keep it clean and only using it at the weekends…

I like the idea of a tailor made cover but £300 a lot of money…

I’ll keep my eyes open for a bit…

 

it is a lot of money but the quality is excellent, they fit perfectly, the washing bit is annoying but it depends how much of car anorak you are

 

Like yourself, my scoob is parked up during the week and I cover it.
Got my cover on recommendation from another scoob owner and am well pleased with it.

I got it from Cover Systems on 01933 410 851 for £117 ( March '05 ) and it's fitted, made from polyester woven textile so it's breathable and is very good quality.
Comes in a storage bag with a centre retaining strap and lugs for additional front and rear straps ( not supplied - I use bungees ) which are worth using in bad weather!
