Default Help me from being robbed!!!

Hi, phoned my local dealer to book my04 wrx(standard non-ppp) in for its 10,000 mile service. Trouble is he quoted £192 inclusive of parts, labour and vat. I find it hard to believe that this is a fair price to charge as the only things that need changing according to the service book are the engine oil and oil filter, the rest is just inspections. This price does not include the body service.

Please post how much you paid and the dealer if its in the midlands as i dont mind travelling a reasonable distance. I would rather pay a dealer eg. £150 for service and spend the remaining £42 on petrol out of principle than get shafted.

Car is booked in for wednesday morning so please stop me before then.

Thanks.
Naz.

will give them a ring just to get a price for comparison. also thinking of ringing one in mansfield. hopefully if i can get a better price might be able to get the local dealers to agree to match it or lose me as a customer.

Paid £90 and supplied my own oil.

Had quotes from £125 to £160 max. £192 sounds a bit steep..!

Default Why main dealer?

Is it not true that anyone can service your car as long as they are in the trade? eg, local performance centre? using correct parts etc.. without effecting the warrenty?
And i bet they are half the price!
I thought this was something to do with european law...

And after some of the work i've had done at main dealers i know who i wolud trust more!
Just a thought....

In one of the threads on here a while back I remember someone wrote that you can have it serviced at a specialist but dealers are then less helpful in the event of a warranty claim, if this is true then while under warranty I think its best to have a official dealer stamp.
