Anyone ever resent their scoob?
I bought an MY03 Sti about 4 months ago as an upgrade from my Civic Type R.
I knew it was going to cost more in fuel and running costs but i had no idea it would be this much.
I use the car as my daily driver to work etc which is about 350 miles a week. Its costing me nearly £90 a week in fuel alone. Its just had its 3 year service which cost me £770 plus it will need new disks and pads on the front soon so thats another £500.
It wouldn't be so bad but i had a little tussle with a z4 on a dual carriageway and although i got a bad start i couldn't really real him in much. For the running costs of the car i would want to obliterate him.
I'm trying to save at the mo to get a new fuel pump, decat downpipe and a remap but its difficult to save and run the car. Trouble is i love the awd turbo and know i would miss it if i changed to something else. heeeellllllllppppppppp

Never resent having the Scoob - but I can afford to run it.
Please don't think I'm having a go, but by the way your post reads, you didn't really go into Scoob ownership with your eyes open. As you've now found out, they are total money pits - just varying degrees of depth!!!
I hope you find the car more manageable (and thus keep it!!) - they soooo worth every penny.

Don't get me wrong i do love driving it and it gets "opened up" most days to work as there are a few nice b roads but god does it drink.
I have to agree with you scoobydoo555 I probably didn't quite realise how much these things cost to run when i bought it.

I've always been **** at saving money (in fact I'm 31 and have never saved a penny in my life), so I made a 'deal' with myself when I bought the car.
I set up a Direct Debit from my current account that goes out the day after pay day, transferring £100 into a high interest ISA account. It's my Subaru fund and has so far paid for an unexpected outlay on front discs and is now nearly up to ecutek or performance exhaust levels.

It works for me.
I started it off with £500 and have added £100/month since May (£400). My first 30k mile service ended up costing a lot more so my piggy bank came in handy....
30k Service = ~£440
1x Front Fog Lamp = £80
2x Fog Lamp Covers = £25
then......
2x Front Discs (apparently they were scored) = £100
2x Set of front pads (incorrectly fitted last service) = £100
Plus labour.
Total bill = £861
I've managed to top it back up to £400 now though

I have mine serviced by a guy who Works at Subaru same service and parts at a fraction of the cost, you can do some work yourself that will save you money. Yet you talk about modifying that wont save money.

Had mine a few weeks and I'm pretty shocked at the petrol consumption but I've owned gas gussling cars before so I'm kinda used to paying through the nose for fuel.
My Focus RS was pretty heavy on the petrol, cossie was too. NOTHING and I mean NOTHING was as bad as the 225bhp Escort RS turbo I owned. Back in 97 I used to put 20 quid a day in the ******* just to get to work and back!
