Default TSL Firestorm Backbox - too big and loud?

My quest for the right exhaust continues.....

Does anyone know what the TSL firestorm backbox is like? At 5" it seems quite large but without seeing it on a car it's hard to tell. Also, is it LOUD??? I don't want anything that is OTT.

Thanks.

Is it loud on the motorway, for example? And do people turn and stare when driving through town centres?

I don't really want to 'make a statement' with the level of noise, just enjoy the flat4 engine noise that I'm missing with my standard exhaust.

p.s. got any pictures of the back of your car so that I can gauge the size of it?

Thanks,
Rich.

Hmmmm, just found this quote in the details of the "TSL Group "N" Back Box 4" tailpipe" on the TSL website:

"The perfect compromise for the driver who wants a "BIG" look without resorting to the fantastic volume of the Firestorm."

To be honest, I don't want the BIG look and certainly not the "fantastic volume" - guess that makes up my mind for me?????

Going on what you said I really WOULDNT go for that exhaust. Consider maybe a Scoobysport or similar.

Looks nice on the car Trap but my god mine was loud with decat. Set off numerous alarms droaned like hell on the motorway and it got attention everywhere (including the local plod). Think mine lasted 5 months before I went for the 3.5" Scoobysport system.

Must admit the Firestorm sounded lovely on tickover though...................

Hmmm thanks, not really what I'm after then.

What about the Scoobyworld Ninja, any idea if that's loud too?

I am going to Prodrive and back in mine tommorrow, round trip of about 200 miles should be okay but the group N box is probably better suited for you tbh.

Good, varied opinions! Thanks all, its narrowed down my choice to....

- Scoobysport 3.5"
- Magnex 3.5" or 4" rolled end (round)
- Scoobyworld "RaceBox"
- Scoobyworld Ninja
- Prodrive backbox

(oh, plus the H&S)

Now I just need to decide whether to go the whole hog and get a decat section too!!!!

i'm not too keen on the firestorm noise personally, a bit too raspy on high revs.

i went from std. to magnex 3.5" to firestorm to afterburner vortex, all using full decat and the best sounding if you like a bit of noise is the afterburner. strangely not too loud until you boot it, then all hell breaks loose

it sounds like you don't want to be deafened each time you drive so i'd be going for the magnex, work your way thru decating it a bit at a time. that'll give you a chance to get used to the increase in noise rather than blowing yourself away in one go!

something else, when i've got the magnex or afterburner on, my car hits 17 psi, with firestorm on it will only just make 16 psi, too many variables to say this is fact but the car definately drives better with the magnex on

Thanks for the advice. I'm looking seriously at the H&S, hopefully from a user on this forum, just waiting to hear back from him.

Otherwise I may go for the Magnex....to many choices, so little time!!!
