Went from South Yorkshire all the way to newcastle to have my 98 import SVA'd, dint feel overconfident, but thought it might pass.

Anyway, it didn't!!

No fuel regulator (I think thats what its called, its the gadget that sits next to the ECU to let it know the change in fuel - where can I get one of these?), didnt have a paper element, wiring for the fog light wasnt secure anywhere, fog light was pointing in wrong direction, wrong wheel size, wiring needs taking out for sat nav and brackets need removing on back window.

Gutted.

 

Tried calling ScoobyClinic about it yesterday but no luck, Adam, you about?

 

Are you sure the fuel thing isn't the washer you put in the filler neck to stop the 4* pump being used?

They got me on fog lamp wiring / height, wrapped the cable in tape and used cable ties where visible.

The fuel thing is the FWK or FMK regulator (I think) that sits next to the ECU undder the passenger foot well (he showed me a pic of what its supposed to look like.

Im very suprised about all this to be honest, I really thought all this would be picked up when it went in for its SVA prep...

 

As an aside, different testing stations have different reputations. Id stick to my original advice which was: go to Derby...

Newcy offered me the quickest test date, and it just happened I had no work on that day, so I wouldnt have to lose out on money by taking a day off.

It would have failed no matter where it went!

Everything you mention is minor so good luck for the next time and watch them when they peform the test if possible, some of them are not to be trusted.

 

Mine failed first time on the wiring and placing of the fog lamp. Make the changes (borrow the parts) and go back. Take some tools so you can make some "adustments" if required. If it fails ask lots of questions as to what will pass and make sure you write them down.

i was under the impression you need a model report for 1998 cars

 

I got one from modelreports.com, this report is what had the picture of the above FMK/FWK on.

 

Hi, very interested in the model report that you are using. I thought the model report from Modelreports.com is for the verison 3 WRX model only.

They said they did not have a model report for a version 4 WRX (post Sep 1997) earlier this year.

I would be very gratefull for a definative answer on this.

Hi Lee, the model report for the wrx model goes up to version six i believe. Modelreports.com should have one for the v4 wrx, however for the sti it is only up to version 3.

 

I had to quote some numbers from the chassis plate and they just said "Yeah you can use our model report for this!"

But they never mentioned anything about adding any fuel regulator...

Ill see if I can get a pic of it and post it up.

 

A responsible company will always inform you of any modifications required, when you hire use of their Model Report.

Just got off the phone to modelreports.com where I got mine from and they have offered to refund me the cost of the retest becuase they failed to mention that I needed the FWK1 mod for my ECU.

Which apparently I can get from Import Solutions.

Now I have a question...

When I called the company and told them I have a V4 WRX they told me they have a V3 report but asked if I could check my model numbers to see if they are compatible, so I did, and they were!!
He then told me that the V3 report would be fine for my V4, so I gave them over £290 and was happy.

Now the SVA fellow told me my ECU Number is: 22611AC722, but the report shows the last three numbers as being 721. so surely this means they are incompatible?
The SVA guy said that if I can get a letter from Subaru saying the 722 ECU superseeded the 721 ECU then ill be ok, otherwise, it will constantly fail on this...

HELP!?!? Can anyone shed any light on this for me please?

Has anyone else had to get a V4 WRX through SVA? If so, can you tell me what you did for your report please?

Out of interest is the ECU number on the cover of the ECU and can the ECU covers be swapped - hint hint.

Hairdryer; WD40 then replace it with a new label; ideally from a thermal label printer like the Dymo available to borrow from Argos..........

Lets face it; the 22 is probably a superceding part, but youll never get confirmation from International Motors.
