Does anyone know how to stop the seatbelt warning chime on a WRX SL (which has the heated seats).

 

er - plug the seatbelt in when you are driving and it seems to do the trick!

 

other than being sarcastic, there is one wire that needs to be disconnected but I cannot remember which one. I seem to recall that this is on the drivers side but not on the passenger side belt fastening...

 

thx. You are right, it only is active on the drivers' side..
just need to find the connection...?

 

Assuming that no passenger would want to join you in this venture.

Why not plug their end into your end thus leaving you free to make acquaintance with your windscreen unhindered.

Someone is bound to ask,so it may as well be me.

I had similar query with my BMW as if I have my laptop on the seat the bloody buzzer always went off. They asked their service dept to get an old seatbelt cut down and gave me just the connecting bit which did the trick. They said the alarm cannot be turned off (probably more for their corporate safety than mine).

Other than that, can't see why you would want to disconnect the drivers seatbelt thingy. I used to always drive without a seatbelt, but since these buzzer thingys came along I have just gone with the flow and saved myself a fortune in tickets from the old bill and should I have the misfortune to go off into a ditch, I should just about avoid flying through the windscreen!

 

I wear the seatbelt whilst driving but when I turn down my road I take the belt off as I need to stop then reverse into the garage. I know this takes 20seconds or so but it is annoying especially when you are completely stationary. All for the sake of an unneccessary connection somewhere.

The annoying reminder also goes off without any modification
or the seat belt on at speeds above 125 MPH . Guess they feel a seat belt is
not really going to help you at speeds above 125 MPH .

 

If I recall the reminder will only bing at speeds over 16mph, but if you go less than this after the bing'ing has started then it continues. So the trick is to not take off your belt until you are below 16mph. ie when stationary. That way you'll not get the noise at all unless you are a nutter and enjoy reversing into your garage at speeds over 16mph. Which is quite cool actually and possibly fun to watch when it all goes Pete Tong!

 

Yep that works.I unload the car at the front of the house then get back in to put it round the back & it does not go off.Dash warning light will be on but no buzzer unless I nail it down the side of the house.
