Every day since buying my car, i am learning more about the car. i cant beleive how well she handles, and brakes, wow i though my old Clio handled and braked well, but i can out brake the old clio and it seems to out handle the clio as well. Just dont want to get over confident though and stack it, i am driving to my limits as apposed to the cars which i am sure far exceed mine, as i feel anything i chuck at her, she simply laughs in my face, and screams for more, but i am scared to if i'm honest.

but how do some of you guys know where your or your cars limits are?

Go to some meets or runs and follow the old timers who have done it before, you soon see what your car can do

And not far from the truth. I guess it is question of time till you get used to it. In 1 year time I learnt to drive sometimes at the car's limit, you can push it quite a lot

 

what car do you have and with what brakes? I found that the brakes were sh1te and really let the car down, hence they were upgraded straight away!

 

i got myself a 2.0l Turbo she's pretty standard apart from an induction kit, tbh i find the brakes fairly adequate for the way i drive at the mo, maybe once i have got used to it, i'll uprate them.

But its still making me smile everytime i turn the key, although i have only had her just over a week now

 

Take the car on track and you will find its far from adequate in std trim You will also find that your clio (if it was a 172) would be far more adequate in std trim.

what brakes should i be looking at then mate, or what would recomend? Always nice to know what would be better than standard kit.

Well if your happy with them then do nothing. Dont get sucked into spending money just because someone says what you have is crap. I made the comment from my own experience but then I use the car on track. The std brakes will be gone off after 15-20mins of hard use, foot flat to the floor nothing left.

Uprating pads makes things better but scoobs run large one piece discs which retain too much heat and ultimately give brake judder from warping. Its just part and parcel of using a std STi or some such on track. Im sure soemone will be along in a minute telling you how a £2K mod will help but as said if your happy then dont bother.

Oh and they understeer too much too

i'm not going on tracks, and my driving isnt really upto road race standards, i just drive within my own limits, as i'd like to stay out of the hedge lol. but i understand what your saying, so drilled and grooved discs might be the next purchase once i've saved the cash lol.
