Legally don't think it would make much difference even if you bought it from a dealership and it was second hand. "Caveat emptor" - buyer beware....

Garages tend to fix stuff mostly out of goodwill, but when they offer a warranty on a second hand car it only tends to cover defects present when the car was designed - not wear and tear...

Think your only hope is that the warranty is still valid and that it blew due to a design flaw, rather than wear and tear/bad maintenenace/bad mods etc.

Sorry to hear about it - You could always try and get some cash back from the seller (yeah right... but it's not like you've got much to lose so you might as well give it a go....).

i bought a scooby on the thursday and on the friday afternoon (approx 150 miles down the road) it blew up. not too good for obvious reasons but after a heated debate and rigerous examination it was found to have been "modified" as the block was not the original and had had internal components changed etc. i got my money back based on that scenario. maybe it will help a little to know at least it can be done.

try this website as i got them involved heavily. www.treadingstandards.gov.uk

Maybe that's better - unless you have a gripe with the local aerobics class
