Thumbs up

The GT4 is not as quick as my P1 as it weighs about 1500kg, but it's a lot of fun with 280-300 bhp and only rear wheel drive. It's obviously a very different experience to our "rally replica" nutterboxes...

Turns in really well and can be steered on the throttle very easily. Bedford Autodrome have a fleet of these with the Nismo exhaust (sounds good) and Nismo Brembo brakes (very good, especially in such a heavy car) and I had a riot in them to the extent that my car felt just a little dull on the way home... There will be a programme on Men and Motors later in the Summer showing this day where one lucky so and so won a 350Z GT4 (chassis No 1) which will show just how much fun these things can be.

The question should be better at what?

Driving across the continent? Scratching down a B road? Around a quick, smooth racetrack? In MaccyD's carpark?

We drove them on the wet (North) circuit - suprsisingly good grip, good brakes and a lot of leery sideways stuff, and then on the dry fast West Circuit. Grunty things and very sideways ( too much so in my case, a few times - didn't spin it but it was veeerry close. I was having such a laugh that I ballsed at least 3 things up very lap ...)

I really like my P1, but these were great fun and would be very comfortable cruisers on the motorway too on the way home

Much as I dislike all things French (apart from their countryside, oh and the way they disegard laws they don't agree with) if they were giving 'em out I'd have to plump for the clio V6. It certainly looks the biz even if it doesn't quite do it.

A matter of personal taste i know, but i have always thought the Clio V6 was one of the ugliest cars on the road.

I very nearly went fot the Clio V6, but opted for the 350z as it was a little (but not a lot !) more practical :

Glad I went for the 350z, but I'd still love a Clio. "Boy Racer's Wet Dream"

So what about the negative comments about the STI (everyone wants to reace ou, cut you off, abuse you etc)

Is it that bad with the new STIs?

I see they still have to use a JDM Spec Evo against a euro spec Subaru

Any JDM car would have been better but for years they keep putting JDM evo v UK car, now they have a euro evo they STILL put a JDM car against a UK car, defeats the point if they dont go JDM v JDM imho.

Yet they ALWAYS use a JDM Spec Evo, be it an FQ or the MR, these are not euro spec cars, they are grey imports, jap market cars only, brought into the uk and enhanced by xtreme.
They didnt use the euro car? and why not? because its not competative enough? considering all those mitsubishi owners say they easily push 280bhp, not a problem in that crowd

Bit of a contradiction Tony, as you rightly point out they are JDM cars tweaked by Mitsi for the UK market. They are not available in the same spec in Japan and are therefore UK spec. They are available from UK main dealerships, unlike the JDM only Sti which is only available via import.

The Evo 260 available in the UK and the rest of Europe is actually an Evo 7 with an 8 nose and tail. I suspect the point of the test was to compare the Evo9.
