Type R owners
I have a 1997 Type R and find it's quite noisy. I'm not sure if this is "normal" or if I have a fault.
The noise is a kind of whirring from the rear which gets louder the faster I travel. It's not connected to the engine as the noise remains when the clutch is pressed. I was thinking that I could have a transmission problem or maybe wheel bearing problems.
Do any other type r owners have this problem. Is it just a side effect from having drive to the rear wheels?
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Hiya m8, I had a 97 Type R and it too had what I can only describe as a grumbling from the back end. Had the diffs checked and the bearinmgs, all OK!
Think it's something you just have to put up with.

I've change the tyres and renewed the diff oil but the noise was still there. When it was at the garage the mechanic had it up on the hoist with the wheels spinning and the sound wasn't there. I think it must be part of the transmission system.I think I'm going to have to look at sound proofing.
What can you guys reccomend? Dynomat? I want it to be effective but light weight.
