Default I think my samco might be sucking itself closed

i have fitted what i belive to be a 3ply samco inlet hose

bought from ebay, and advertised as 3 ply
when i looked at the hose it was 3 layerd, black then blue and then red

this should be 3 ply?
i was lead to belive the 3 ply models dont suck them selves closed

the problem i have is this.....
fitted the pipe, went for a quick drive, engine noise changes at approx 5500rpm (simmiler to a choke or sumthing on a carb opeing up or such) power dies

on rembering such posts about the old model inlet hose i unclipped my air box and removed the K&N pannel filter and retried the test

same effect, approx 5500 rpm and i can see the boost dropping on my display followed by an extreme lack of go go.
i am going to recheck everything next week and see if i can adjust the hoses position or see if anything is not quite right, but im thinking i have bought an crappy part

i have read about the standerd "snorkel" restricting flow, if this is removed, does it really help?

car drives fine up till about 5500 and then its just plain ****e

can sumbody confirm which model samco is the early one
i thought the 2 ply one was the bad one and the 3 ply one was the best

read a post which says the 3 ply one is the crap one and the 4 ply one is the newer version

here is the advert from ebay where i bought it
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...tem=7945765291

when i questioned the metal tubes in my other post i receaved an email from the seller telling me that he was an ex prodrive mechanic and stuff, here is his mail

Mick,

I have been wondering why you havent left me any feedback yet, a simple mail would have cleared this up.
Let me say first that i am an Ex Prodrive engineer, i have no reason to feed you any bull**** so the following will all be factual, if you like you can post what i have written on your thread on scoobynet to get some more opinions. I am a little pissed off that you feel that i would supply you with a Faulty Inlet pipe, especially given my background.

if the 3ply version os the crap one and there was NO 2ply version i would like to know
thanks

Samco had to make me one, as they did'nt have any in stock and i still got it in 8 days, if they have them in stock it'll be a lot quicker.

If you use the car every day could you not put the std one back on?

i butcherd it to death removing it

i removed it with the inlet manifold and the powersteering still attached, does that give a clue to the damage it receaved

well today i bought 4 large jubliee clips and managed to get 2 of them on

either end of ther pipe, enar the turbo entry and near the maf pipe

i blocked the inlet and reved the engine and had a good look to see the entire thing collapse and suck itself inwards

it now revs past 5.5k, but its still not right, i think its still collapseing in the middle so the inlet will still need removed, although i think it will probably be fione with the extra 2 clips in the centre

i was actualy really suprised how stiff it made the thing when the clip was put around it
