Default Scream/Whistle noise from a mates scooby

My mate has just bought a WRX RA on a W reg, but it makes a noise i havent heard from any impreza. Its such a loud sound that u can hear it a mile in front on a straight road. Its like a scream/whislte type noise which is very different to anything i have ever witnessed on a scooby.

I thought it maybe some sort of air intake but when i looked, it looked like an itg panel filter so thought maybe the exhaust has something in it.

O and before u ask, ive already asked him and hes reluctant to tell me hence posting here.

Please can someone let me know cos it sounds well good but doesnt quite suit a subaru as the flat 4 rumble is good enough

LOL Im on about a continuous noise which varies in sound according to the power of the engine not some minor power steering noise. Besides its on a mates car and he wont tell me what the noise is. Sounds as though its coming from his engine or exhaust but only happens around 2 thousand revs upwards.

2000prm upwards - possibly an air leak from the turbo to intercooler or intercooler to throttle body?

It may have found a small leak and using it in a way like a claranet uses a reed to make a sound.

Is is on boost or all the time?

why wont your mate tell you, why bother to help if he wont!

lol its nothing wrong with his car, his cars had something put on it to deliberately make that noise n thts what i wana know.

J4mou i think ure right, a few guys told me it must be his dump valve that makes that noise. What dump valve would it be though

DUMPVALVE RECENTLY FITTED ,,,, ONE OF THE PIPES OR SOMETHING IS NOT CONNECTED PROPERLY ......... I HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM MY HEAD WAS IN BITSSSSSSSSSSS and left the same post as you lol

it is a scream and he needs tighten the pipe because if his car goes round a corner and his revs drops his car will cut out thus steerin lock come on

ie....... car wrote off ........

hmm, i think recent would be over exagerating since hes had the car for a few months and hes been driving it as such for ages like this. I would have thought its some sort of mod i.e. some sort of induction kit or dump valve that deliberately makes that noise

what your talking about is a bung you stick in any universal back box that will make it sound like that but the downside is that it increases back pressure which ruins the engine after prolonged usage. it makes the car sound more like a plane and the flat four rumble disappears.

sounds more like it, another suggestion someone mentioned to me before. I always thought there would be implications if that was the methods hes used. I prefer the flat 4 rumble though, especially considering how loud my sti wagon is
