Since I sold my last Impreza (RB5) in October, I've been running around in the wifes brand new Clio 182, which I have recently advertised for sale, as she isn't using it, so I thought I'd chop it in for a car for myself.
Anyway, I appreciate that this is a biased BBS, but what the hell....
Unbiased opinions invited please!
Option 1.
2 month old Renaultsport Clio 182 in Arctic blue with Cup suspension and spoiler packs. 3 years warranty remaining. blah blah blah
or
Option 2.
MY99 V reg silver 4 door Impreza with 48k miles, FSSH, cam belt changed etc etc, not to mention it'd be £70 a month cheaper than the Clio.
Well, whadya think?
I'm leaning towards the Scoob, but after 4 Imprezas in 7 years, I'm kinda enjoying "normal" fuel and insurance!

If you had the scoob, dont tell yourself you going to keep it standard cause it never happens, if your happy with "normal" fuel and insurance then drive the clio, but if you've got money to burn and you want a car that gives you that smile everytime it pins you back in that seat then go with the scoob.

17-4 to the Impreza so far!
I've had a few Scoobs before....
MY96 WRX
MY00 UK Turbo
MY03 STi PPP
MY99 RB5 WR
so I know what I'm letting myself in for with the MY99.....
Its pretty much a foregone conclusion but I'm interested in your arguments for keeping the Clio.

Cup pack = some spoilers and revised suspension
(the latter being the most important bit, which wasn't bad as IIRC the cup pack only cost abotu £200 when specced with the car when purchased.
The choice all depends on what you want from the car. It is a very difficult decision. The scoob will probably be quicker by a signficant margin, but the clio will probably be more refined, quiter and much cheaper to run. So it all depends on what you want out of it.
me, I'd go for an Sti V wagon. It's what I'd really like. Just sold my MY98 UK wagon with PPP and even though it hasn't yet been collected, I'm missing it already but needs must at the moment. When I return to scoob ownership as surely I will, Sti V wagon will probably be it.

The Cup spoiler pack is simply front and rear spoilers.
The Cup suspension pack is lowered spring, stiffer dampers, specially made tyres for the Clio with stiffer sidewalls and anthracite alloys.
After 4 Imprezas and 3 Clios, in my opinion, the performance difference between the Clio 182 and UK Impreza is negligible, and certainly not significant. :rasp:
If anything the Impreza JUST pips the Clio in power to weight and acceleration. The Clio's handling is miles better, although does not have as good grip or traction.
Clio 182 - 168bhp/tonne
Impreza Turbo - 177bhp/tonne
Impreza WRX - 161bhp/tonne
Hence why the Evo group test including the 172 Cup and Impreza WRX amongst others saw the Clio kick the Impreza's *** in most areas!
Anyway, I'm wary of not starting a "which is better" debate, as I merely wish to know which car folk would opt for.
