Default MY05 WRX Poor Radio Reception

Have had my My05 Wrx for a month now and the radio reception has always been prety cr&p.

Had a Pioneer Avic X1 professionally fitted yesterday and the reception is just as bad, if not worse.

Anybody else had radio reception problems with the heated windscreen arial??

Chris

Have to say my MY05 has very good reception, and certainly better than my prevous car, a 993, that also had the windscreen aerial, which is pretty aweful. This new one seems fine, so perhaps there the aerial power/boost cable was not fitted correctly in the factory and thus a change of h/u as also meant the same problem...

Theres a little black box under the parcel shelf ( passenger side IIRC ) thats the booster for the signal, also if your windows are tinted it will reduce performance.

I've had my MY05 for a couple of months now and found the reception to fairly average (just checked with the Mrs and she reckons that Classic FM is sometimes a bit wobbly).

Poor reception is not unexpected given the cheapness of everything else in the sounds department...

Cash permitting the lot will be getting replaced at some point this year.
