I get the same thing as DavidRB (with IE 5.5). Having read a thread, I go back to select another thread, when the page gets shunted down 2 or 3 lines as the banner ad comes up. So you've got to reposition your cursor again.

Nothing drastic....just a bit irritating.

Question

Dear Mr Webmaster,

Would it be possible for you to add a HEIGHT (and WIDTH) tag to the banner add section of the page template?

When I load up a page the formatting goes screwey when the banner add loads and shifs the rest of the page down.

Cheers,

Simon

When you say "goes screwey" what do you mean?

Does anyone else have this problem?

What browsers are you using?

The banner ad is typically the last thing to load on my browser, so it shunts the rest of the page down when it appears. It doesn't screw anything up, but the movement is quite noticeable.

I get it as well (IE5), and very annoying it is too.
I was planning to mention it as well, but never got round to it, so well done Simon for mentioning it.

Me too.

Also, very occasionaly and can't detect a pattern cos it's normally ok, click on a topic with some new posts and get the cached version, and have to refresh to get the new posts.

Using IE5

Cheers

Simon

PS Editing this due to cat on keyboard

OK...

I see what you mean.

I can have a look at it, but is it really worth the effort? Genuinely, if it winds everyone up, I'll put the time in.

Let me know

Cheers

'No problems to report on the "other" BBS'

Lee, it's noth worth complaining about...

When it is a bit annoying, is when there is a page 2... You want to click the "2", but instead you click on the "Email this page to a friend" link because the banner just loaded. Happened to me a few times.

But I didn't loose any sleep over it :-). Well, not too much anyway ... OK, I HATE IT <g>

Theo [just kidding]

I must admit the moving thing doesn't really bother me...

but the stale thread thing is really starting to bug me.

Every thread I have clicked on tonight that I have previously clicked on gives me last time's view. Refresh doesn't help. BUT, hit back and click again I get the updated thread.

Weird.

Anyone else having similar problems?

Cheers

Simon

It's a very simple fix.
