Had a set of wr blue sti mudflaps fitted to my motor on monday,well happy with the flaps,But the best bit has to be the price,£178.90 supplied and fitted

I know the flaps can be had from scotts automotive for £150 inc decals,but i was over the moon with the final bill from a main dealer and that included vat!

So,are our dealers getting cheaper for parts or is it just a myth!

Maybe your dealer got them from Scotts Automotive?

Oh yeah he gets them from scotts but was well happy with the cost as an hours labour or so to fit would useually be around £50-£70,so for £25 over the price from scotts, got them fitted and saved me rolling around on the floor like an upside down turtle trying to fit them,
The flaps were supplied and fitted by montys subaru in sheffield(speak to ian in parts)

Sti parts are still listed as £175 Front and £175 Rear

Dealer fitted mine FOC but didn't offer SIDC Discount on the parts as they were "Special" order............MY ****

 

These ones aint the "OFFICIAL" sti ones as per website,these flaps are the tru manufactored ones that are available from scotts automotive,my dealer says that they have startewd buying them in from 3 differant suppliers as the official ones will not sell at silly money

 

why not get the prodrive flaps for £112 per pair-reasonably extortionate compared to £175

Whatever way you look at it, they are taking the pi$$ with these prices for a piece of rubber and some bolts! I had some mudflaps fitted to my Alfa for £100 front and back including fitting and I thought that was expensive!!

I wanted to get some for my scooby but I'm not willing to pay out that much. How much profit must they be making?

 

Do you realise how much it costs to get dusky maidens to lovingly hand carve STi mudflaps out of recycled EVO MR FQ-400's?!?!

C'mon dude, They should cost no more than £5 each TOPS in the first place. Consider how much a set of heavy duty car mats cost. What £20.00 and you get a shed load more rubber for ya money. £178 PAH!

Blame KayDee Engineering, they make the material

In the recent group buy Austen_wrx set up, the entire kit (brackets & flaps) came to under £60 including genuine 3mm Kaylan from KayDee, thats still one hell of a mark up everyone is charging (Subaru & other 3rd parties).

I could have them CNC'd and still undercut everyone out there by a mile

For what it's worth I did find STi mudflaps on the scoobyclinic website for £90 "fitted" - it doesn't make clear whether this is each or for all 4 (and I think is probably + VAT) but may be worth investigating for anyone interested.

there 4 bits of crappy plastic and sum metal brackets and bolts you could probably find in the pound shop

sum people just love having there pants pulled down i guess

 

Do think we need to get something properly organised, i.e. flap material and brackets cnc'd or laser cut.

brackets 10p from a rampa shop

I have a set of Scotts mudflaps, and know for a fact that the mudflaps cost nearly 70 quid alone because of the superior material. The cutting of them also is done with precision.

The brackets are laser cut and folded to shape, they will cost at least £30 a set easily,the fittings must be around 15 quid, as they actually include genuine subaru bits.

Then theres overheads, packaging and delivery etc. I doubt he makes that much out of them in the end. Must just rely on selling sufficient quantities to make anything at all.

You just couldnt knock somethin like these up yourself to the same standard without specialist machinery and the skills.

 

I contacted Kaydee about getting hold of some 3mm Kaylan ...enough for 4 flaps was about £50 ...having some brackets made up, from stainless & lasercut was roughly the same ...throw in a few quid for bolts/screws/grommets ...& a tenner for decals, so £120'sh ...so Scotts dont seem too bad, especially if he had outlayed on a set of originals & had Kaydee set a tool to cut them

 

Exactly. They are just expensive to make. You can't compare them to the Sparco Jobbies no way. and the fact that they fit perfectly is a major plus. If I made mine myself I bet i'd end up messing up somethin and would end up costing more cos I would need to buy more material.
