My girlfriend almost bought one for her nephew the other day and got me thinking, could be good for a bit of armchair racing. Not sure quite what I am looking for but must be rechargable. Does any one make them in the classic shape? I have had a look on ebay and there are plenty to choose from which is why I am asking as I'm sure a few of you have them.

I've got a Yokomo MR4 Rallye with a 22B bodyshell. Not a nitro (leccy only) but GOD!!! doesn't it shift (I've a modded motor and uprated everything!! - bit like my real Scoob )

check out hpi racing
they do a leccy and nitro rally car, great thing is they have a good dealer network and sell all the parts reasonably in-exsepnsive so when you crash it is doesnt cost the earth to repair. The shells are about £15 ive gone through 2 now.

by the way if you get a nitro car of any description you WILL crash it at some point.

I have a nitro rs4 with a 206 wrc shell (for aero dynamic reasons) but they do loads.

 

If you new to the sport I would suggest Tamiya as they are well built and parts are easy to come by.

Leccy is fun, reliable but only last up to 10 minutes.

Nitro is BIG fun, reliable if you don't touch any settings AT ALL! and just needs filling up when the tank runs out. Nitro is very fast so be careful as your not insured if you hit someone on the local park.

If you really get into it the money you can spend is shocking

 

I think a tamiya one will be sufficent for me, I already have enough expensive habits without a nitro car.

If you look you can find Tamiya 22b but they are quite rare. If you feel happy with buying overseas some hong kong based ebayers sell lots of tamiya cars and right now theres either a german rally style which is red or an Arai style which is more traditional sonic blue - both these cars are 4WD. HK usually have many kits either impossible to get here or never available or out of production.

Granted some feel its a bit of a risk but I've bought a few things from HK without issue except for customs clock it now and again. I'm actually waiting for a new 306 maxi kit to arrive.

I've got a 1/8th nitro buggy- awsome fun and big jumps! Shaft driven 4wd, 3 diffs, disc brakes, noise, smell- I think i might get mine out now! Ooooo eer!!!

Trouble with 'touring /tarmac' cars is you can be limited to where to run it (ie large very smooth tarmac, kerb free empty carpark- and boring!)

You can always put a scooby body and rally tyres on it.
