Default New Car Price Guide

I am test driving a WRX tomorrow at my main dealer and I am hoping to thrash out a deal for a new car. What sort of price should I be looking to pay for a MY04 or MY05? Are there any good deals around at the moment?

I've recently been offered an unregistered MY04 £18K OTR inc 12 months RFL, WRX mats and a coat, import for £16.2K inc' Cat1 alarm.

I bought a 1 owner UK 2002 in the end for £11.3K with 23Kmiles (Scooby main dealer). There seems to be some good deals around at the mo'.

Simon.

At my local dealers they were knocking out the last of the 04's at 18k but no discounts at all on the 05 at the moment. The salesman seemed to think they would be better placed to discount in a few weeks when all the 04's have gone..

Dealers have huge stock at the moment, giving big discounts and pushing 2nd hand prices through the floor. Work hard you should get a good deal......

My local dealer did a good deal for me, a new 05 STi £24K (crystal grey)plus I got them to throw in the 6 disc cd changer and STi mat set. The price was on the condition that they pre reg it when it comes in, otherwise as new.

Austen_wrx told me about LloydsTSB Carselect and last month I got a four door UK MY05 WRX from them; £18,528.14 brand new on the road. They sourced the car from IM direct and arranged delivery to my local Subaru dealer who fitted my WR Sport Oval backbox free of charge. Lloyds even did a good trade-in for my MINI too, which was nice.

So far the service from both has been top notch. The dealer was a bit miffed about not being able to price-match and do the sale himself, but said that he made more or less the same amount in his ‘handling fee’. The sting in the tail is that quite a few dealers kicked up a storm with their Marketing dept and now Lloyds get virtually no discount off Subaru’s – even though I was told they’d sold over 300 Impreza’s in the past year.

So the consumer loses out yet again…

Went in and said my top budget is £24K and I want a crystal grey 05 STi, at first he said for that money I will only get an 04 with some miles on, when I said that the 05 is the only one I want and I know I can get it from another source (import) he went into his office and came back and said I could have it as long as they pre-reg it. But I thought that was too easy so pushed him for the CD changer and mats but he would,nt go for the mudflaps as well. If you dont ask you don,t get. Oh yeah and a full tank of fuel as well. Hopefully getting next it Wednesday!!!!!!!!

Cash, sold my previous car privately, also sorting out my own finance, their interest cannot match the banks.

I went into my local dealer and he quoted me a price on £20.2k for a 05 wrx, doesn't this sound more expensive than normal? There are no discounts available as the moment. The Subaru website quotes only £19.9k
