Got a WRX STi Version 6, 2 weeks old, cashmere yellow, yes , yellow, had every car under the sun but none that turns heads like this baby, been driving it at 4000rpm's or less for it's break in, ( it's really hurt, specially when RS's an GTi's fly by )just comin up to 800 miles and I've booked it into Graham Goodes for it's first service ( 1000 miles )coz I can't find anyone up here in the Manchester area either good enough or willing to look after it, any thoughts ? Plus whilst I'm having this first service any advice on simple upgrades ie; air filters, dump valve etc to give me more power? I've been told it's currently giving me approx 300 bhp!

See how cheaply you can get it done - not my recommendation for services in general, but all they'll do for the 1st service is change the oil and filter.

Unless it's had mods, it should be giving you more like 280 bhp at the moment, not 300.

Trigaar - 280 hp

On Powerstations rollers even modded cars have trouble producing 280 hp

Jase - I'll give yoou a fiver to do a thorough service on my car? - including stripping the engine and replacing pistons, crank and other goodies - parts can be supplied!

Steve,
When you say modded cars have trouble producing 280, are you talking about modded uk cars or modded STis? I've seen dyno readings on the web around 280 for a jap import without mods - whether running with octane boost to get 100 ron or not I don't know.

While you're there Steve, I noticed in another post, you said the best oil Silkolene Pro S - 5W-40W. Powerstation put Silkolene Pro S 10W 50 in mine, I didn't know they had a 5/40 pro s as well - assuming it's fully synthetic, what's the difference apart from the viscosity?

Steve,
Powerstation (crowned the Daddies) just popped 4.5 litres in as per manual - after chaecking the stick it was between the notch and hole (which is where I thought it should be) - where do you fill it to (when stone cold)?

And... where do you get your silkolene from? I'd be interested to see what the marketing bumpf says for each Pro S option.

Trigaar mines an sti5
The results you see though are probably on Powerengineerings dyno (mine produced 299 hp at Well Lane unmodded - and 277 hp with a Link, VF22 TURBO, full exhaust and airfilter at PS - albeit this will be a bit higher once I've had the ignition advanced a bit more!)

Re Oil

Having spoken to a number of people I was informed that this stuff was the best - perhaps a techie could comment - cant see there being a huge difference

Only thing of importance is to note that the car takes more than 4.5 litres - nearer to 4.75/4.8 litres. The garage I use finds it odd that Subaru state 4.5 litres - but perhaps imports are different! - Putting 4.5 litres only in could lead to problems

Cost of 5 lites is about £30+vat

Jase
£7.50 - damn - where am I going to find the extra 250 puppies from?

Thats daylight robbery!

Still waiting on Warren at the moment - if he can tear himself away from Nurenburg!
The way things are going at the moment I may end up saying s*d it and sort out next March

Or I could buy an Evo?

Trigaar.... re Oil - said Oil should be up to limit, especially if I was taking anywhere near a race track - re different types - dunno

So a few more weeks... I'm not in any tremendous rush...I am getting there..
