So what RON is Shell Super Unleaded in the UK? I've found that this appears better than the 'rest of the leading brands'.

I believe SUL should be *at least* 97 RON to meet the British Standard, so is Shell SUL closer to 98 RON, or am I just imagining things?

I Have noticed a number of petrol stations which have one pump stating 98 and another stating 97. Some even have 97 on the pump and 98 and the handle!!

Every time I have asked about this, I have been told that they are all 97. Why the stickers?

Don't suppose it make that much difference?

Cheers

Simon

Question

I thought Shell was Dutch?

Royal-Dutch Shell or something?

Could be very wrong though!

Chris.

Unfortunately Shell is composed of several distinct companies. I work for an IT services one and have very little to do with oil. The company you need to approach is Shell European Oil Products. I will try and find a contact email.

Memo re limited command of English language.

"peurile" is spelt "puerile". Its root being the latin word "puer", meaning boy.

Don't they use 99 RON petrol (or better) in the aerospace business? Surely one of your industrial strength chemists could knock (pun intended) you some up, or tell you whereabouts in Rochdale you can get some!

See you next month when I finish crayoning the bonnet.

MTR,

I KNOW WHERE YOU CAN GET 100 RON FUEL WHICH WORKS WITH CATS AND ISNT A PROBLEM WITH TURBO/LAMBAR SENSOR !!!!!

You can get it in Japan. Oh, hold on, that is a stupid thing for me to post. Dohh. Germany, however, is pratical isnt it.

Good to see Scoobynet is back so I can read posts from yourself as well as your other money saving palls.

For anyone interested I now have to Boycott Esso - I have noticed problems with their superunleaded fuel- boost kick backs on full throttle - so much that I dont belive them - I now use Shell and others and have not encountered the problems that I hae encountered with Esso

And before some smart ar*e commnets I am talkign about same driving conditions, temps etc!

Cool

Nick,

Ignore him, he's a lousy typist!

He's much more entertaining "in the flesh". My six and a half year old always comes with us, and Martin has never threatened to eat him, yet!

All day long in an aerospace factory he inhales some substances we've never even heard of!! (That's MTR, not my son!)

Hope to see you on Birch Services come the day.

Oh and "domo arrigato" Bright Kar San.

Nick West,
You're wrong, and why haven't you got your name down for my Northern Meet 4?

[/quote]

Christ MTR, could you be any more direct? do you want to jump all the way down my throat?? you forgot the Nah-Nah-Ne-Nah-Nah

I stand corrected, my memory was from the Social Accounting report from 1977 which was produced in Germany by Shell to German GAAP.

And I didn't realise attendance at your Meet was compulsory! Was planning to come with my son but if thats how you jump down my thoat for making a simple mistake about an oil company, god knows what you'd do to my 7 year old if he mistook you car for another, or forgot to say please or thank you.

So much for a happy family on this site!
