It's fantastic!!! V6 sounds fab! Pure sex-on-wheels. Handles like a go-kart (not the nasty rental ones but the 2-stroke ones from Club100). Inside it looks and feels like a proper sports car -- 2 seats, everything is wrapped around you tightly. The 'box feel is delicious... It doesn't FEEL as fast as the Scooby. Maybe because it is heavier. Maybe because the power delivery is linear, so you keep waiting for that turbo kick but it never comes... but by that time you are doing well over a 100.
Book a test drive and find out for yourself.
If I could sell my Scoob for enough money I would get the Z tomorrow. The only problem is that there is actually a 6-month waiting list if you want a brand new one. Used ones go for more than the list price!
This reminds me how I shopped for a Scooby back in 2000. Waited almost 9 months At the time 2-3 year old cars were selling for £20k (new was £21). Three years later and the prices have gone through the floor. This puts me off taking a plunge with a brand new Z...

Funnily enough I took one for a test drive on Monday while my daily hack was in having the boot lid struts fixed.
Best description for it was stunning
Suspension felt spot on, firm but compliant enough at slow speeds, minimal body roll
Steering was a little lifeless around the dead ahead but came alive as soon as a little lock was wound on, very nicely weighted and full of information
Gearing is spot on for the engine, for example it pulled with urge in 5th from 40mph, heavy clutch though, remember, it's a twin plate
Throttle response incredably crisp, tickle it and the car responds instantly
Traction control (ESP) was not very intrusive, and when switched off the car became hillarious...and I thought it wouldn't wheelspin
I did not expect to like it so much, very different car to my Scoob (heavily modified classic). The only bit I didn't like was that the steering wheel obscures part of a dial...that's it
Would I part with my Scoob for one? No, but that's because a) I can't afford too, b) it's no where near as quick, c) I've taken 6 years to get the scoob tailored to meet my requirements!
It feels like bigger heavier car than the Scoob, but then again a new age car is also a bigger heavier car...
I want one, a lot, and I might even leave it alone...untill I could afford the twin turbos
Take one for a drive it will not disapoint you, it may even surprise you and then more than likely bankrupt you
Now all I have to do is persuade the other half that she doesn't want a Type 25 or an MR 340 anymore but a 350Z so we can have the best of all things
Oh and if you do buy a new one, dget the GT pack, forget the Ray's wheels (they're the same size as the standard ones) and consider the Nismo wheels instead, they looked rather nice, I just hope that 19's (over the stock 18's) wouldn't destroy the fine balance of the car...

Mine is on order and coming mid November - Gun Metal Grey, GT Pack and Rays alloys - I cannot wait for it to come.
I HAVE NEVER HEARD SO MANY GOOD REPORTS ABOUT A CAR. The only bad report was by Jeremy Clarkson, but who cares what he says
Auto Express voted it car of the year...

I have dragged next to a 350Z in the wifes Volvo - i personally think they should be quicker, but as far as a drivers car goes i am told they are pretty awesome !
http://www.chesh.co.uk/santapodvids.htm - (850 v's 350Z)
BTW - the 350Z ran a 14.6

I had a decent test drive of one, was looking to chop in my A3 3.2 for something else.
Great suspension, really compliant for a sports car. Didn't feel any faster than the Audi. Interior was pants, lots of silver coloured wobby plastic, I found the seats uncomfortable and sweaty. Too expensive with the GT pack/ rays/ metallic you're looking at nearly £28k. Bugger all space in the back, if I was going to get something that impractical, I'd rather have a convertible. Had a shot of the Monaro on the same day, which is a lot more car for the money. Didn't buy that either though

Just come back from Crete today, where I've been lucky enough to have been gifted the use of a 350z for the duration. Thought it was wonderful, pliant suspension, comfy interior, driver friendly sideways handling, superb steering. Subjectively, thought it felt quick. I'd buy one.

I've owned mine for two months now after defecting from a 300bhp Type-R Impreza. While I was running it in I was initially disappointed, it just didn't feel quick enough compared to my Scooby. Then came the day when the engine was run in and I switched the traction control off. The car was transformed into something very special and it is very very fast. There is no turbo kick and it is a heavy car but as a driving experience it blows my old Scooby into the weeds. It is awesome and I certainly do not regret getting rid off my dated looking Impreza. It seems to get quicker the more miles you rack up, I love it.
You will not regret getting one if you are thinking of taking the plunge.
Craig.

I'd love to say I own one of these beasts but that would be a lie so I'm answering on behalf of Big D on the Type-R-Scotland.com forum. He's had it for 6 or so months and loves it to bits. The point he's made again and again in it, is the mysterious factor of torque - it's relentless - it just keeps pulling and pulling. Being n/a there's no lag, and although a heavy-ish car, the handling is nimble enough to put in some good times around knockhill.
In summer '04, we attended a large scooby meet by Loch lomond and the Zed came along for the day. One memorable point is a drag with a current spec Sti - nothing in it - dead heat.
EVO magazine have one on their fleet which they report on each month - seems to be getting favourable reports.
Apologies for providing comments on a car I don't actually have, however thought they'd help none the less !!

I love them. Is one of the only "affordable" cars I see and go WOW. RX8's look quirky but the Z's look like sex on wheels. MrsP1 hates the rear but I think it all looks great.
That V6 growl is such a nice change for a jap car. If I had that kinda money it would be my choice if buying new.
Simon.

It's a shame they don't look that special. From the front they are Toyota Celica, from the side they are Audi TT. They only look good with the Nismo body kit IMHO . Reading reports the Rays alloys will get kerbed by pot holes . That metallic orange colour is nasty !!!

if the practicality isn't an issue (2 seats, FA luggage space) then they're lovely cars. almost bought one meself.
If you don't wanna join the waiting list (6-9 months by now I'd guess) Mr Litchfield can set you up with a nearly new import. I'd go for a convertible.

I was very pleasantly surprised how much luggage space there is. OK, your bags / suitcases need to be pretty flat -- the boot area is quite low but very wide and long.
Can't believe it would be on par with an STi in a drag race. The stats are slower and it feels slower, especially without the turbo kick.
But on the other hand the linear power delivery without any turbo lag feels great, and as a driver's car more involving and demands more driving technique than a scooby.
I've read that the Nismo exhaust sounds fantastic; I thought the standard one was a bit too subtle.

too big, too heavy and no turbos... makes it a car to become bored of within a few months
lets face it a classic scooby, mr2 turbo, skyline, evo would mince it and they can all be picked up for 1/4 of the price.

My opinion, crap dealers, crap service, looks like its bloated, big engine why not big power?? Havent a clue how good it performs, couldnt test drive one.
The dealership I went to treated me like ****, crappy photocopied bit of paper as a brochure as they had ran out, asked to send me a brochure still waiting 4 months on. Can I have a test drive? No, can I book a test drive. No we don't have a demo car. Waited 20 mins to see a Z specialist. Waiting time till delivery 6 months.
I thought my Lotus dealer was crap, Nissan took it to a new level. Totally put me off, no way I would exchange 25 of my hard earned to be dealt with like that.
Summary we don't give a **** about our customers, you want one place a deposit, and hope that it is as good as people say it is.

Serious question , if it looks like it's bloated and has a big engine with not enough power, why would you bother with a test drive? Accept your criticism of the dealer, 'cos we've had the same, but your criticism of the car seems a bit odd under the circumstances!

Is it because you really really want one but couldn't have one

If you can't drive the thing how can you complement it?
I wanted to drive it to compare with the other cars available, as at the time was looking to change, TVR. Lotus & Mazda were far more obliging and spent more than 30 seconds with me.
