Smile MY05 WRX - Latest Confirmed Details from IM

All...

Some of you, like me, will have an 05 WRX on order. FYI, I have jjust heard from my dealer the follwing information (as I was pushing them to tell me something given the 05 STi is out there but nothing on the WRX). He has said the following - and this comes from Head Office, not just him:

The MY05 has been confirmed and they have also confirmed that Crystal Grey is a new colour (which is nice given that's the colour I ordered). He also confirmed there is NO price increase (which is even nicer!! )

In addition to the changes we know about in the interior, he also confirmed the following technical changes (this may not be an exhaustive list - just what his email stated...)

- smaller steering wheel
- red painted brake calipers
- aluminium front lateral link
- inverted suspension struts
- cannon mounted steering gear box
- wider track

He understand the projected launch date for the car is late October (although he is hopefully confirming this on Tuesday with them), and given my car was one of the first ordered (particularly in Crystal Grey), I should be getting one of the first to arrive. FYI, I ordered 5-door WRX SL.

Cheers

Andy

My dealer told me that there would be no price increase on the '05 STI, then rang to say it had gone up by a grand.

As dealers often do..., but then he had, no doubt, been going on guesswork before IM actually advised of the firm pricing. For the WRX, IM have advised that there is no price increase, so this is not dealer supposition but supposed fact.

Do you think that you'll still have to light a fuse on it or will it be an electronic firing mechanism?

Will it have a girly button that fires confetti instead of anything heavy or dangerous?

Sort of. That funny wheel thing on the left stalk that used to change how bright the clock is when the headlights are on will now control the cannon setting: dim for girly confetti, bright for manly *****

I was at my local dealer last week and what you say seems to tie in. Grey similar to RB5 steel grey aparantly.

The wider rear track means they have wheel arch additions like a focus (just joking)

Tied in to the scooby range (allegedly) there are meatier engines for the Legacy and a 2.5 turbo (low tune) for the forrester.

Scooby dealer dribbling now as he thinks 2.5 turbo coming for Scooby..........

The new grey ('crystal grey metallic') is much paler than the RB5 grey, which is a shame IMHO.

It still looks good though. If i were ordering a '05 car it would be high on my list of colours.

Is the track wider on the 5dr or just the 4dr?

On the Jap car it's been moved, yes.

The track is widened on the STI but not on the WRX, so the 5dr remains the same because there is no 5 dr STI.
