What oil do dealers use when they do a normal service?

Thats what the dealers use right?

My oil is low and I wont be able to get it changed till next week and want to make sure I get the same grade

sitting in halfords car park right no lol. (thank god for 3G!)

 

Halfords keep information of all manufacture recomended oil grades on file the only thing they cant tell you is what brand the dealer uses

 

Halfords say part synth 5w/30, but I am sure the dealer uses 5w/40 fuly synthetic.

Not got a clue, just hope its ok till next week,

 

I use Silkolene Pro S 10/50

 

The system will list two a premium and a standard oil

 

If the dealer is using 5/40 full synthetic then chances are it's the Mobil1 that is approved and supplied to Subaru dealerships and not available elsewhere. Most dealerships however, use semi-synthetic - usually Castrol Magnatec 10/40, sometimes Shell Helix 10/40

I purchesed a new oil filter and sump nut washer today and asked one of the mechanics what oil subaru used .


Answer - shell helix ultra 5/40

 

Yeah thats what I thought.

Car only took about 1/4L to top up.

Will get the oil changed at the service next week.
