looking at it mate the P reg motors are fetching closer to 6k now, so maybe a re advertisement at £6250 or something and try to get 6k for it might be in order?

Nah I think your going to have to lower the price a bit, A MY00 with Prodrive goodies and 52k miles with FSH went near me for £7500........I was to late in getting there or it would have been mine!

My opinon (and its not worth a lot) its green, quite high miles, no aircon, Id rather spend tiny bit more on newer year and get the momo s/wheel etc..

Plus alot of others around at the moment.

Its difficult to give advice as most of us have not been there!. Yet.

Unfortunately, you see cars advertised for realistic prices, but you dont know what they finally sell for.

I think your own issue may be the advertised mileage. There are so many imports with less that the uk average of 12K per year.

Perhaps you should change your ad to include 'average miles'. service history etc... This may get a phone call allowing you to sell other aspects over the phone.

Then It all comes down to what you would accept/be prepared to 'lose'.

Work out how much it will cost you to keep for the next 8 weeks and factor that in.

A really low price of £5995 may bring in 3/4 buyers who you could play against each other.

Alternatively, sell some parts that may not affect the value.

wheels should stay , but uprated stereos and dumpvalves etc, are often looked at as 'bonuses' when you buy.

The only equivalent experince I had is with a 309GTI that I had no respose on for ages, despite a reasonable price. Then one guy comes along, takes one look and pays the full price without even driving it.

Suggest you keep the mileage in the ad – you don’t want to get lots of calls only for them to hang up when you tell them the miles. Also suggest you add:

- State whether it’s an import of genuine UK car.
- Has it been modified or is it standard?
- Is the service history a full Subaru history?
- How many owners?
- State the plate, not everyone knows what a ’96 is.
- How much tax and mot left?

Finally, agree with above posts; if no one is calling you then you are over pricing the car. If you need to get shut in a hurry then drop a grand.

Question

ok,

Dropped the price to £6150 o.n.o and removed the millage and replaced FSH with 'Full Service History' and Very good condition.

Hopefully that will provoke more than 0 people to give me a call!!! Do you reckon they would print 'Canvassers shot on sight'?

Hiya

I'm trying to sell a very similar car to you at the moment - mine is slightly lower miles but doesn't have the leather etc.

I've started off at a value I feel is a little high to see if there is much interest but not getting many takers.

Looking at the 'trader there are a lot of cars around the £5995 mark I am guessing pitching in just under this would get a lot of interest, just over it and relatively little (but someone may turn up looking for exactly what you are offering)

Mine is up at £6250 at the moment. The guide reckoned £6300 is about right for a dealer price and £6025 for a private price. I'm not in a hurry to sell so I've pitched mine above the marker, on a chance that is exatly what someone wants.

Modifications rarely significantly affect the value of the car and can actually reduce the value - it might be worth stripping, selling separately and putting the car back to standard.

My advert can be seen at here

PS. Nothing wrong with green cars

Have patience. I sold my MY00 with 70k on the clock a couple of weeks ago for £8,900 - although it was in superb condition and had the PPP and 17" wheels.

It took nearly a month to sell, though - I had no interest at all for 3 weeks and then several people all came out of the woodwork at once. It eventually sold through the SIDC web site.

Your ad looks fine to me - but do check the price against other similar cars and bear in mind that the ones that are priced above the average, are those that are still going to be advertised in a few weeks' time. Don't be too optimistic with the price and it'll shift in time.

took me a month to sell me MY99 with 67k in silver. very clean car for £7250. I think its wrong time of year as well, loads of ppl on holiday etc. Last year sold my MY96 in green for £7k and that almost had 100k on the clock so prices generally are not very strong at the moment.

Don't wish to upset you but if you have a look at the website and expand the search to 100 miles there are a number of cars on the same plate with "average milage"around the £4800 mark. It doesn't matter if they are dogs with no engines, people looking at the website or the magazine will discard yours as being too expensive in relation to others available.

Just wait for the right buyer to come along.
