I'm hoping for a little advice,

For the last couple of days the clutch has been playing up, gear selection normal then really rough going into 1st and 2nd @ junctions etc.
I've had an investigation tonight - and there appears to be the remains of a
brass bush on the pin that holds/ goes through the cluch pedal to the chassis? I'm assuming this bush takes up a bit of free play.

Question is, is this bush that important that it would cause the roughness in the clutch ie, having to push the stick quite hard to get it to engage 1st an 2nd???

Secondly, can the brass screwed rod attached to the clutch pedal be adjusted to increase pressure/piston travel - hence moving the piston on top of the gearbox further????

Thirdly, or is my clutch just boooogard?, (not slipping)

The clutch would be slipping if it was friction plate related.

There is adjustment on the pedal, two 14mm nuts iirc above the pedal..

No idea on the bush as never looked..

You might want to replace the gearbox oil with Castrol Syntrax to make gear selection easier.. or Redline Shockproof oil etc.. do the rear diff with the same stuff too..

I've already changed the box oil with syntrax about 5mths ago, actually made the box feel worse but i was living with it. also done the diff at the same time.

Answerd my own question - the bush on the pedal being replaced didn't help any???
still really rough into 1st.

Might it be the clutch slave cylinder??? not putting out enough pressure??
or the release bearing or the fingers on the plate being worn??

Could be the synchro's i suppose, is there a way of checking for sure??
And iv'e bled the clutch right through i think (block on bulkhead and on slave)

A mechanic at Dealership told me to have an adjust on the brass screwed rod above clutch pedal - Only seemed to make things worse.

Thinks I'm going to have to get a new clutch kit????

 

The best way tot check Synchro's is to tap the gearbox oil. If the oil is 'gold' the synchro's are most likely gone. If not just put the oil back in
If it's all gold you could try new gearbox oil with FSE mark. This seems to improve the light shifting.

For the brass screwed rod attached to the clutch pedal, it can be adjusted, but just give it a half turn each time and then go for a ride because it listens very narrow.
